Professional Technicians are requested for further processing. The inserting and adjusting of artificial teeth should be operated by professional dentists. Only trained staff should be allowed to handle this product. CAUTION Milling or polishing dust particles produced during processing may irritate the eyes, mucous membranes and skin, and injure the lungs. Therefore, make sure that the dust extractor at your milling machine is functioning properly. Wear safety goggles and a dust mask. Blanks are supplied in a pre-sintered condition. Indications: - For bruxist patients - In cases where occlusal space is limited - In Implant cases placed on the abutements - In other cases where the bite is compromised (class 3 bites, crossover etc.) and extra loading occurs, resulting in a greater likelihood of porcelain fracture or chipping. 3. Intended use: NOVAZIR HT / NOVAZIR ST / NOVAZIR ST pre coloured are milling blanks from biocompatible yttrium stabilized zirconia nano powder by cold isostatic pressing. At full density, the zirconia has high strength, excellent biocompatibilty and optimum aesthetics. NOVAZIR blanks can be machined for dental restorations by different CNC or manual milling systems. Applications include anterior and posterior, single tooth or bridge restorations. Store in the clean and dry room. Avoid acuity pressing and shaking during transportation and hitting with hard things. 5. Tooth preparation instructions: 1. A chamfer or shoulder (width mm) with a rounded inner angle is ideal. 2. For occlusal surfaces or incisal areas, reduce by mm (NOVAZir HT) / mm (NOVAZir ST) 3. Edge radius: 0.5mm 4. Preparation angle: For bridge preparations, check for parallelism and avoid undercuts. Avoid shoulderless preparation or inclined shoulder! 6. Framework Construction 1. In accordance with the general guidelines for full ceramic restorations, the wall thickness should not be less than 0.4mm. 2. The height of the connectors should be a stall as possible. The cross section of the connector must be at least 9mm², for posterior regions at least 12 mm². For the posterior regions there are no more than two pontics allowed between two abutment theeth. 3. To avoid chipping of the veneer material it is necessary to design the framework in an anatomical form to get a constant thickness of the veneering material. If requested by the veneering material producer a liner must be applied. 4 4. Use alow speed hand-piece to separate the restoration from the zirconia disc, and to avoid perforating the zirconia, the rotation speed should be under rpm. 5. To refine the fossae of premolars and molars, use a fissure bur. Sharp edges at the framework should generally be avoided. 7. Directions for Use 1. For CAD/CAM systems or when using manual methods, NOVAZIR blanks are milled to the required frame shape. The milling must add approximately 25% to the original size to compensate for shrinkage during the final sintering process. 2. The exact shrinkage rate or expansion factor should be programmed into the CAM software. Please check the exact individual shrinkage factor on the zirconia blank. 3. For long bridges, please keep the supporting framework on the lingual side to prevent from distortion of the bridge on cooling. 4. While using blanks with aluminium or plastic holders, please make sure to leave a residue of zirconia material of not less than 1.5mm attached to the holder, which can be disposed of together with the holder after the milling process is complete. For processing blanks, the ceramic-specific processing parameters must be used. After milling, the framework has to be inspected and meet the following criteria: - no material pitting - no identifiable cracks - no surface discolouring - - no glossy patches on the surface The construction should not be used for the manufacture of dental prostheses if one of the deficiencies listed is detected. 8. 5 Remove excess zirconia dust from the restoration with a small brush. Wet milled restorations should first be cleaned with water to remove excess zirconia and then dried. Tow methods are available for the colouring of full contour zirconia: dipping and brushing. For detailed staining instructions, please refer to Instructions of the manufacturers of colouring liquids. 9. Drying: 1. Infrared drying Keep a distance of mm between lamp and restoration. In case of brushing, 30 mins for crwon and bridges. In case of dipping, 30 mins for crown an mins for bridge. 2. Porcelain furnace drying Set the temp range C with chamber half closed, holding time is the same as above. 3. Oven Drying Set the temp range at 200 C, holding time is the same as above. Important: Do not sinter frames when wet. Only completely dry frames should be sintered. Please adhere to the specified drying times. Please observe the respective recommendation. TIP: Constructions can be weighed prior to dyeing and after drying. This will facilitate the determination of whether residual moisture is still present. 10. Sintering: Only high-temperature furnaces certified for this purpose should be used. Please observe the information/parameters provided in the manuals of the respective furnace manufacturer. 1. Final firing temperatures: All mentioned temperatures are recommendations. The actually reached temperature varies from sintering furnace to sintering furnace. 6 Hold time at final temperature: 2 hours If greater translucency is required, the temperature can be raised to 1530 C, but a slight colour fade could be possible, in which case, modify the colour with surface staining, or use a deeper shade in colouring process. NOVAZir ST pre coloured: Max heating rate: < 25 C per minutes Final temperature: 1530 C Hold time at final temperature: 2 hours Tip: Low temperature will get a deeper shade and lower translucency. High temperature will get a lighter shade and higher translucency, but a worse ageing characteristic. Place the restoration in the crucible with the fit surface upwards to avoid the sintering beads getting into the restoration. Make sure the restoration gets maximum support from the sintering beads. For long bridge spans of more than 8 units, it is recommended to leave the bridge attached to a supportive base to lower the risk of distortion. Cooling should be done without temperature control in a closed furnace. CAUTION Important: Never open furnace before it has reached the temperature of less than 80 C to avoid thermal shocks. Finishing of sintered objects: CAUTION - Do not blast: Blasting may result in undesirable zirconia phase transformation. - Avoid grinding corrections: After sintering frames should only be processed further if absolutely necessary. Only water-cooled diamond tools should be used. Otherwise, there is a risk that excessive local heat may cause cracks in the material. After milling, the frames can be further shaped with a handpiece and diamond burs, gently at under rpm. The framework must always be wet ground to avoid overheating. It is recommended to sandblast with 50 micron aluminium oxide at 2-4 bar, to clean the frame work and recover any strength lost during milling. Porcelain Veneering All known brands of zirconium veneering ceramic can be used as long as their thermal expansion coefficent is between 9.5x10-6/ C and 10.5x10-6/ C Steam clean the framework after final shaping. Follow the instructions for the porcelain of your choice. Polishing: Use special zirconium oxide polisher to polish the occlusal surface, and polish the buccal and distal surface if needed.
