NOVALIS TOPCOAT C 219 A / C 219-S UV-protected, solventfree, colour epoxy topcoat Light-resistance according to DIN 53389: 7-8 Curingtemperature: C

NOVALIIS TOPCOAT C 219 page 2 GENERAL NOVALIS TOPCOAT C 219 is an UV-protected, very good light-resistant epoxy-gelcoat. Light resistance according to DIN 53389: 7-8. Free from thixotropical additives. Roll- and brushable without solvents. High covering power. After curing excellent grind- and polishable. Applicable at positive- and negative-construction. Sprayable by addition of Acetone (see guidance on page 3 and 4) NOVALIS TOPCOAT C 219 A/ C 219-S are free from synthetic phenol, toxic thinners, aromatic and tertiary amines as well as free from solvents. NOVALIS TOPCOAT C 219 shows an excellent scratch-resistant surface with high colour stability, a good abrasion- and chemical resistance. Highly resistant against salt- and fresh water, benzines and diesel-oil, lubricating and hydraulic oil as well as lubricating greases. STANDARD COLOURS Signalred (similar to RAL 3001) Black (similar to RAL 9005) Gentianblue (similar to RAL 5010) White (similar to RAL 9010) Lightblue (similar to RAL 5012) Papyruswhite (similar to RAL 9018) Papyruswhite-Light Skyblue-Light Minor changes in colour as a result of deviation of the raw material reserved. SOLVENTFREE APPLICATION Working-temperature: C Curing-temperature: C Consumption: approx g/m² for decorative colour designs approx g/m² for surface coatings and in moulds NOVALIS TOPCOAT C 219 A (resin) HAS TO BE STIRRED UP WELL BEFORE USE. Mix very well both components in an adequate mixing vessel according to the mixing ratio. Take care for a minimum temperature of + 20 C of resin and hardener.

NOVALIIS TOPCOAT C 219 page 3 Please pay attention to the shortened potlife at larger batch-sizes. The application of already gelated mixtures may cause a faulty quality (tacky spots, inferior adhesion and less mechanical values). Relevant for the curing time is the object-temperature and not only the room-temperature. Minimum object-temperature + 20 C. SPRAY APPLICATION BY ADDITION OF ACETONE 1.) Pre-productional dilution in Acetone The pre-productional dilution in acetone can be effected in any desired ratio, but it is recommended to do it according to the mixing-ratio, so that the base-mixing-ratio of 100 : 24 weight parts will not have to be calculated new after dilution. Please add acetone in grams and not volumetric. Dilute resin and hardener separately, let it rest for at least 4-6 hours and stir it well sometimes, so that a homogenous solution can be formed. Please note that while diluting the hardener-component with Acetone, the temperature will raise a little cause by exothermal reaction. EXAMPLE for dilution: 1 : 1 1 : 2 2 : 1 Topcoat C 219 A (resin) 100 g 100 g 100 g Aceton 100 g 200 g 50 g Resin-Mixture 100 g 300 g 150 g Topcoat C 219-S (hardener) 24 g 24 g 24 g Aceton 24 g 48 g 12 g Hardener-Mixture 48 g 72 g 36 g In this way also larger quantities can be pre-diluted e.g. for a whole week and an optimal adjustment of the system to the airless-equipment is possible.

NOVALIIS TOPCOAT C 219 page 4 Important instruction: Because of the addition of Acetone use by observance of special precautions. During application and exhausting of the solvents take care for good ventilation of the working place. No smoking! The relevant professional instructions for application of solvent-type systems must be followed. The user is responsible for the observance of the national laws as well as the local officially orders and rules in view to the application of solvent-type epoxy systems. 2.) Spray-application Working-temperature: C Consumption: approx g/m² Stir up well diluted resin and hardener before use. Mix it together in an appropriate mixing-breaker and stir well. Mixing-Ratio: 100 : 24 weight parts Apply by spraying in 4-5 thin layers. Take care for good exhausting of solvent before spraying next layer. When applied in thick layers, tacky spots after curing and/or inclusion of remaining solvent may be the result, which may lead to blister-formation later on. Advice: For getting optimal adhesion, already cured epoxy-surfaces have to be grinded well before further coatings can be made. If possible always work wet on wet. During the curing-time the new coat has to be protected from moisture (rain, dew, condensed water) and direct sun. This is very important for outdoor application. Moisture during the curing-process may cause white-coloration, tacky spots and/or blisters. This surface can only be renewed with a new coat after sanding.

NOVALIIS TOPCOAT C 219 page 6 STORAGE Store under dry conditions by moisture- and carbonic acid exclusion. Storage temperature at least + 15 C. In closed containers storable at least for 6 months if these storage conditions are kept. Important instruction: NOVALIS TOPCOAT C 219 A (resin) may crystallise at transport or storage temperatures below + 15 C. Indication of crystallised resin: TOPCOAT C 219 A does not flow off undisturbed from the stirring pole (gritty). This crystallisation can be regenerated by warming up to approx C. After cooling down to approx. 20 C the resin must flow off undisturbed from the stirring pole. This regenerated resin can be used without loss in quality. In view of the warming up of drums please note that one plug is open a little to avoid an increase in pressure. In no case use crystallised resin before regeneration because it may cause tacky spots, inferior adhesion as well as less mechanical and chemical values. PHYSIOLOGY Because of the low vapour pressure this epoxy system is to handle without hesitation by observance of the usual precautions. NOVALIS TOPCOAT C 219 A (resin) is irritant to skin, eyes and mucous membranes. NOVALIS TOPCOAT C 219-S (hardener) is corrosive to skin, eyes and mucous membranes. The wearing of splash-proof protective goggles and gloves is recommended. Furthermore take care for good ventilation of the working place. In case of contact with eyes rinse at least 15 minutes with water and seek medical advice. In case of contact with skin wash carefully off with water and soap. A prophylactic skin protection is recommended (special skin creams). Our products are free from toxic substances like phenol, phenolic-diluents and aromatic amines. The relevant professional instructions for the use of epoxy-resin/hardener-systems must be followed. NOVALIS TOPCOAT C 219 A contains epoxy-compounds. Note instructions of the producer. When totally cured, this epoxy-system may be considered as neutral for ground-water. For order s sake we want to point out that for the liquid resin- and hardener-component the handling-orders in this data-sheet and in the material-safety-data-sheet have to be kept strictly.
