Application: Specially designed as lightweight torsional reinforcement for model aircraft construction. The aramid fraction provides significantly better compressive strength than comparable woven fabrics this configuration made of E- glass. The reinforcement mesh of HT-carbon fibres is composed of 1K-yarn which was introduced as warp and weft pitched at 30 mm (no. of threads: 0.33 per cm). Calculated data for hand laminates with 35 Vol. % fibres: Resin consumption: 55 g/m², laminate thickness: 0,071 mm, laminate weight: 95 g/m² 0,5 m roll ,64 / m 23,80 28,32 1 m roll ,96 / m 40,30 47,96 2 m roll ,61 / m 73,30 87,23 3 m roll ,82 / m 102,90 122,45 5 m roll ,15 / m 156,10 185,76 10 m roll ,08 / m 294,80 350,81 20 m roll ,84 / m 552,00 656,88 50 m roll ,15 / m 1.309, , m roll ,93 / m 2.515, ,85 Carbon fabric "Spread-Tow" UHM 50 g/m² Plain weave, width 100 cm The spread-tow fabric is currently the lightest textile reinforcement based on carbon fibers with a close weave, that is comercially available. It uses the Tenax UMS 55 fibre, that exhibits a very high tensile modulus (stiffness), a high tensile strength and a comparatively high elongation. Technical data: Tensile strength: 4100 MPa Tensile modulus: 540 GPa Elongation: 0.8 % Calculated data for hand laminates with 35 Vol. % fibres: Resin consumption: 35,5 g/m², laminate thickness: 0,05 mm, laminate weight: 85,5 g/m² 5 m roll ,77 / m 936, ,84 10 m roll ,49 / m 1.794, ,86 20 m roll ,20 / m 3.432, ,08 1

2 TeXtreme Carbon fabric Key benefits in using Carbon fabric TeXtreme comprises fibrous tapes, not yarns, there are certain advantages in using such a reinforcement material like reduced weight of composite products due to increased fibre content, increases the surface smoothness on final composites due to fewer interlacing points, increased fibre floatsand less crimp. Most important benefits in using TeXtreme : Reduces weight of composite due to increased fiber content Increases the surface smoothnesson final composites due to fewer interlacing points, increased fibre floats and less crimp Reduces labour and time as one ply of such a material could be used instead of two cross plied unidirectional sheets Presents new aesthetic designing possibilities for composite materials Is easy to handle due to a stable structure Backside is treated with a thermoplastic EP-binder (slippage resistance) TeXtreme Carbon fabric 76 g/m² Twill weave, width 100 cm Fibre: Toray M 30 S 18 k / intermediate modulus Calculated data for hand laminates with 35 volume percent fibres: Resin consumption: 55 g/m², laminate thickness: 0,076 mm laminate weight: 131 g/m² Tensile strength: 5490 MPa Tensile modulus: 294 GPa Elongation: 1,9 % 0,5 m roll ,43 / m 52,70 62,71 1 m roll ,57 / m 98,80 117,57 2 m roll ,10 / m 180,00 214,20 3 m roll ,41 / m 260,70 310,23 5 m roll ,98 / m 407,50 484,92 10 m roll ,25 / m 758,40 902,50 20 m roll ,13 / m 1.464, ,52 50 m roll ,91 / m 3.273, ,35 TeXtreme Carbon fabric 129 g/m² Twill weave, width 100 cm / high modulus Calculated data for hand laminates with 35 volume percent fibres: Resin consumption: 93 g/m², laminate thickness: 0,13 mm laminate weight: 222 g/m² Tensile strength: 4610 MPa Tensile modulus: 455 GPa Elongation: 1,0 % 0,5 m roll ,60 / m 70,00 83,30 1 m roll ,84 / m 127,60 151,84 2 m roll ,49 / m 229,40 272,99 3 m roll ,79 / m 327,20 389,37 5 m roll ,88 / m 528,90 629,39 10 m roll ,46 / m 1.020, ,63 20 m roll ,25 / m 1.936, ,91 50 m roll ,16 / m 4.418, ,90 2

3 TeXero Carbon tape unidirectional High Performance carbon fibre tapes deliver low weight with extreme stiffness in one direction. Currently, unidirectional carbon fibre reinforcements are employed by default in several FRP-applications since they can provide optimum load carrying component designs. Using Oxeon's proprietary spreading technology, developed by Dr. Nandan Khokar in 1995 at the Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg/Sweden, comparatively thick carbon yarns (12K / 24K / 48K) can be spread to form a very low-areal-weight fabric. TeXero are unidirectional carbon fibre tapes which can be expediently employed in a variety of applications. The TeXtreme fabrics, also produced by Oxeon, are based on these tapes. The TeXero tapes can meet much more than just the standard requirements. The advantages over conventional unidirectional reinforcements are: Owing to the proprietary spreading technology, the fibres lay absolutely plane-parallel and possess no filament undulations whatsoever. Self specifying width without warp-edge reinforcement. No holding threads and thus no outlines can be left on the component's surface. The fibre fixing is carried out by an epoxy resin matrix applied to the reverse side. The cuts are easy to handle. Compatible with epoxy, polyester and vinyl ester resin systems.
