2 GENERAL is used to connect insulators to the towers and conductors. The ored hardware is mainly made o heat treated steel. This steel is especially suitable or orin and its ood perormance, especially ductility, is due to the heat treatment process. This is o particular value i dynamic loads, or instance throuh ice sheddin or oscillations, are likely. In particular cases, where at very low temperatures dynamic stresses could occur, hardware made o special steels is available. capability The short capability o the strin hardware depends on the cross sections used as well as the smoothness o bolts and holes and on the mechanical load applied. Furthermore the rade o steel used has some inluence. Generally one can calculate that at a current density o A/mm 2 the temperature o the materials used will be lower than 0 C. One should keep in mind that at hiher temperatures the o the hardware will be reduced. Standards The connectin bolts acc. DIN 473/5.6 or 8.8. Split pins are made o stainless steel or tinned copper.
