1 Material Safety Data Sheet 1. Product and Company Identification Product Name: Application of the substance/preparation: Manufacturer/Supplier MSDS Nr.: 004 Issue Date 02/21/2008 Plascore PAMG XR and PAMG-XR Aluminum Honeycomb Aluminum Honeycomb Plascore, Inc 615 N. Fairview Zeeland, MI Tel.: Fax: website: Emergency Phone Number: Tel.: Hazards Identification Emergency Overview: Not combustible as supplied. Small chips and fine turnings and dust from processing may be readily ignitable.. Explosion/fire hazards may be present when (see Sections 5, 7 and 10 for additional information): Dust or fine particles are dispersed in air. Chips, fines or dust are in contact with water. Dust or fine particles are in contact with other metal oxides (e.g. rust.). Dust or fumes from processing can cause eye, skin, upper respiratory tract irritation or metal fume fever. POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS: The following statements summarize the health effects generally expected in cases of overexposures. The health effects listed below are not likely to occur unless processing or combustion of this product generates dust or vapors. Eyes: Skin: Inhalation: Carcinogenicity and Reproductive Hazard: Dust or fume from processing can cause irritation to the eyes. Dust or fumes from processing can cause irritation of the skin. Dust or fumes from processing can cause irritation of the respiratory tract. The product as supplied is not a carcinogen or reproductive hazard. FORM: MSDS002 02/15/08

2 3. Composition/Information on Ingredients Chemical Characterization/ Description Complete composition is provided below and may include some components classified as non-hazardous. CAS Number Components % Aluminium >84.9% Magnesium <6.6% Zinc <4.0% Manganese <1.5% Silicon <1.1% Chromium <0.6% Nickel % 4. First-Aid Measures After Inhalation: After Skin Contact: After Eye Contact: Dust or fume from processing: Remove to fresh air. Consult physician if irritation continues. Dust or fumes from processing: Wash with soap and water for at least 15 minutes. Consult a physician if irritation persists. Dust or fumes from processing:: Flush eyes with plenty of water or saline for at least 15 minutes. Consult a physician. 5. Fire-Fighting Measures Suitable Extinguishing Media: Special Hazards: Protective Equipment: 6. Accidental Release Measures Personal Precautions: Environmental Protection Measures: Measures for Cleanup: Use class D dry powder extinguisher. Do not use water, foam or halogenated extinguishing media. This product does not present a fire or explosion hazard as shipped. Small chips, fine turnings and dust from processing may be readily ignitable. May be a potential hazard under the following conditions: Dust or fine particles are dispersed in air. Dust or fine particles come in contact with water. Dust or fine particles come in contact with other metal oxides (e.g. Rust).. Fire fighters should wear NIOSH approved, positive pressure, selfcontained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing when appropriate. For spills of aluminum dust, remove sources of ignition. No special measures required. Clean up spills of dust and fines in a manner that does not disperse dust into the air. Use non-sparking tools and equipment to clean up dust and fines. Avoid contact with water. Pick up spill for recovery or disposal and place in a closed container. 2

3 7. Handling and Storage Handling: Wear gloves when handling aluminum honeycomb because edges are very sharp. Avoid generating dust. Avoid contact with sharp edges or heated metal. Hot aluminum does not present any warning color change. Storage: Product should be kept dry. 8. Exposure Controls/Personal Protection Components Exposure Limits Aluminum Manganese 10 mg/m 3 TWA Total Dust 15 mg/m 3 TWA Total Dust; 5 mg/m 3 TWA Inhalable Fraction 0.2 mg/m 3 TWA as Mn 5 mg/m 3 Fume, as Mn Silicon 15 mg/m 3 TWA Total Dust, 5 mg/m 3 TWA Inhalable Fraction Chromium Nickel 0.5 mg/m 3 TWA 1 mg/m 3 TWA 1.5 mg/m 3 TWA Inhalable Fraction 1 mg/m 3 TWA Respiratory Protection: Not expected to require personal respirator use. If dust is generated during processing then use NIOSH-approved dust mask (P95 Particulate Respirator). Hand Protection: Leather or cotton gloves. Eye Protection: Safety glasses with side shields/goggles.. Engineering Controls: If dust or fumes are generated during processing that exceed airborne exposure, then use adequate explosion-proof ventilation to maintain exposure levels within limits specified in Section Physical and Chemical Properties Form: Solid Colour: Silver colored Odour: Odorless Melting Point/Melting Range: C Boiling Point/Boiling Range: Not applicable Flash Point: Not applicable Self-ignition: Product is not self-igniting. Danger of Explosion: This product is not an explosion hazard Density at 20 C: g/cm 3 Solubility in Water: Insoluble Solvent Content (Organic Solvents): 0.0% 3

4 10. Stability and Reactivity Thermal Decomposition/Conditions to be Avoided: Materials to be Avoided: Dangerous Decompostion Products: Additional Information: 11. Toxilogical Information Acute Toxicity: Skin Irritation: Eye Irritation: Inhalation: Carcinogenicity: Stable under normal conditions of use and storage. Chips, fines, dust and molten metal are considerably more reactive with the following: Water, strong oxidizers, acids, bases, halogenated compounds, iron oxide (rust) and other metal oxides (e.g. copper and lead oxides). No dangerous decomposition products known.. Non-corrosive. Low health risk by inhalation (milling, cutting processes). Aluminum is generally considered to be biologically inert. Possible skin irritant (dust, fumes). Possible eye irritant (dust, fumes) May cause irritation of the respiratory tract (dust, fumes). Aluminum is not classified as a carcinogen by IARC, ACGIH, NTP or OSHA. (Carcinogenicity of the individual components) Chromium ( ): IARC Group 3 (Monograph 49, 1990, Supp. 7, 1987); ACGIH A4 Nickel ( ): IARC Group 2B (Monograph 49, 1990, Supp. 7, 1987); ACGIH A5 12. Ecological Information Aquatic Toxicity: Description of Classifications IARC Group 2B: The agent is possibly carcinogenic to humans. Generally includes agents for which there is limited evidence in humans in the absence of sufficient evidence in experimental animals. IARC Group 3: Not classified as a human carcinogen.
