2 APPLICATION Drying A 3 mil drawdown was applied to glass and air dried at 50% RH and 72 F. The following properties were achieved: Hardness Tack Free Time 55 Sward Hardness Development 24 Hrs Hrs Days 34 A 3 mil dry film was cast on metal panels and conditioned by baking 30 minutes at 180 o F. The following ultimate hardness values were noted: Spraying Tukon, KHN 8.9 Pencil Hardness F-H Sward Hardness 36 is supplied "ready-to-go" and can easily be sprayed using conventional air and airless spray equipment. The optimum viscosity for spraying is seconds on a #4 Ford Cup. For air spraying recommended pressure is 45 to 50 psi gauge pressure. Page 2 of 6

3 CLEAR FILM PROPERTIES A clear, mil dry film was spray applied to cold rolled steel (ASTM D609, 2B) and conditioned by baking 20 minutes at 180 F. Results were as follows: Pencil Hardness, ASTM D363 Adhesion (scotch tape) F-H Excellent Impact Resistance, in Lbs., Pass/Fail Direct 8/12 Reverse 0/4 Flexibility, cylindrical mandrel 1 inch Fail Cleveland Condensation Cabinet (100% RH; 100 o F) 96 Hrs. Salt Spray, 5%, NaC1, Undercutting 100 Hrs. 1/8 inch Slight Water Immersion (100 o F) 100 Hrs. Page 3 of 6

4 PIGMENTED FILM PROPERTIES A high gloss white spray enamel (formulation 111A) was spray applied to Bonderite 1000 panels and baked 20 minutes at 180 F. Dry film thickness was mils. Results were as follows: Gloss, Adhesion Pencil Hardness Excellent F-H Impact Resistance, Inch Lbs., Pass/Fail Direct 16/20 Reverse --/4 Flexibility, cylindrical mandrel 3/16" Pass Salt Spray 5% NaC1, 95 F 100 Hrs. Slight Undercutting 1/8" Water Immersion, 100 F 100 Hrs. Cleveland Humidity Cabinet (100 F/100% RH) 100 Hrs. QUV Weathering, 500 Hrs. Loss in Gloss Yellowing Chalking Trace Trace Page 4 of 6

5 FORMULATING GUIDE Flash The following materials have exhibited good resistance to flash rusting when used with : Ammonium Benzoate (10% solution in water) Potassium Dichromate (10% solution in water) Defoamers Foamaster W 88 Drewplus Y-200 Foamaster NXZ 8-10 lbs lbs. 4-5 lbs. 2-3 lbs. 1-2 lbs. Dispersants Level % on Level of TiO 2 Daxad Surfynol Tg 0.1 Nopcosant K 0.7 Tamol In an evaluation of dispersants both Nopcosant K and Daxad 30 exhibited good results from the standpoint of fineness of grind, mill base viscosity and gloss. However, when a combination of Daxad 30 and Surfynol Tg were used, the lowest mill-based viscosity was obtained. Tamol 165 gives best resistance to flocculation. Flow Agent SF lbs. DC lbs.
