3 FORMULATION GUIDE Co-solvent The addition of coalescing solvents to is required in order to form a film. The following co-solvents are recommended: Propylene Glycol n-butyl Ether (PnB) Dipropylene Glycol n-butyl Ether (DPnB) Butyl Cellosolve (EB) Butyl Carbitol (DB) Carbitol (DE) 25-30% on polymer solids 20-25% on polymer solids 25-30% on polymer solids 20-25% on polymer solids 25-30% on polymer solids Plasticizer The addition of plasticizer to is also required in order to achieve optimum film formation. The following plasticizers are recommended: DBP KP-140 Minimum 5% on polymer solids Minimum 5% on polymer solids Defoamer The following defoamers are suggested for : Dehydran 1293 BYK lbs./100 gals. 1-3 lbs./100 gals. Wetting Agent The following wetting agents are suggested for : BYK 346 FC 129 (1% H 20) Surfynol 104 DPM 2-3 lbs./100 gals lbs./100 gals. 2-4 lbs./100 gals Mar Agent The following mar agents are suggested for : BYK 301 DC lbs./100 gals 2-3 lbs./100 gals. 4 FORMULATION GUIDE (Cont d) Flash Rust Inhibitor Addition of flash rust inhibitor is recommended to prevent flash rusting or early rusting. The following flash rust inhibitors are suggested: AMB (10% H 20) lbs./100 gals. Note: The use of Sodium Nitrite solutions has been found to occasionally cause stability and water sensitivity problems when used with. Use of this additive should be evaluated thoroughly in your formulation to insure compatibility. Dispersant The following dispersants are recommended for : Tamol 165 Tamol 681 D % based on pigments weight 1-1.5% based on pigment weight 1-1.5% based on pigment weight Thickener For increasing the viscosity of, it is suggested that the following thickeners be added incrementally under good agitation and allowed to mix for sufficient amount of time: Rheolate 300 RM 8W 5-10 lbs./100 gals lbs./100 gals.
