4 . Certificate / Quality report information.. General information The Certificate / Quality report message is used to enable the transmission of the results of tests performed to satisfy a specified product or process requirement. These results appear in the inspection documents: - Drawn up from inspection and tests carried out by personnel authorised by the manufacturer and who may be internal to the manufacturing department. - Drawn up from inspection and tests carried out or supervised by authorised personnel independent of the manufacturing department, and based on specific testing requirements. The different types of inspection documents supplied to the customer, in accordance with the requirements of the order, for the delivery of steel products are defined by the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) in the document EN A detailed description of the contents of each type of inspection report are specified by European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) in the document EN068 "Iron and steel products - Inspection documents Contents". The function of the type of inspection document varies the content includes; - Commercial transactions and the parties involved, such as - Manufacturer's works - Originator of the document - Customer / consignee - Customer's order number - Manufacturer's works order number - Despatch advice - Carrier - Means of transport - Description of products to which the inspection document applies such as - Product description - Steel grade - Identification of the product - Article number - Product dimensions - Mass or weights - Package information - Number of pieces - The test methods employed - Process data such as - Steel making process - Hot rolling temperature - Coiling temperature 3

5 - Information on tests on the products such as - Tensile - Hardness - Elongation - Chemical composition - Other tests - Information on tests on the test pieces (samples) such as - Sample dimensions - Identification of the sample - Location of the sample - Direction of the sample - Test results.2 Principles The Certificate / Quality report details may refer to a specific end product, or the semifinished products from which the end product has been produced..3 The different usages of the message The Certificate / Quality report can be used to convey the information of any of the following inspection documents (defined in the EN0204 CEN Norm) or to provide quality data not related to an inspection document: a. Certificate of compliance with the order '2.' Document in which the manufacturer certifies that the products supplied are in compliance with the requirements of the order, without mention of any test results. The contents of this message include; - Commercial transactions and the parties involved - Description of products to which the inspection document applies. b. Test reports Test report '2.2' Document in which the manufacturer certifies that the products supplied are in compliance with the requirements of the order and in which he supplies test results based on nonspecific inspection and testing. 4

6 Specific test report '2.3' Document in which the manufacturer certifies that the products supplied are in compliance with the specifications of the order and in which he supplies test results based on specific inspection and testing. The specific test report '2.3' is only used by a manufacturer who does not have an authorised quality department operating independently of the manufacturing department The contents of this message include; - Commercial transactions and the parties involved - Description of the products to which the inspection document applies - Information on tests on the test pieces (samples) (information on the origin of the samples is not required) and may include ; - The test methods employed - Process data c. Inspection certificate Document issued on the basis of inspection and tests carried out in accordance with the technical specifications of the order or the official regulations and the corresponding technical rules. The inspection unit is set by the product standard, the official regulations and corresponding technical rules or by the order. The different types of the inspection certificate are; Inspection certificate '3..A' This document is issued and validated by an inspector designated by the official regulations, in accordance with these and the corresponding technical rules. Inspection certificate '3..B' This document is issued by the department independent of the manufacturing department and validated by an authorised representative of the staff independent of the manufacturing department. Inspection certificate '3..C' This document is issued and validated by an authorised representative of the purchaser, in accordance with the specifications of the order. The contents of this message include; - Commercial transactions and the parties involved - Description of the products to which the inspection document applies - Information on tests on the test pieces (samples) (information on the origin of the samples is not required) - Information on tests on the products and may include; - The test methods employed - Process data 5

7 d. Inspection report '3.2'. When the inspection certificate is validated, following special agreement, both by the manufacturer's authorised representative and the purchaser's authorised representative, it is known as the inspection report '3.2'. The contents of this message include; - Commercial transactions and the parties involved - Description of the products to which the inspection document applies - Information on tests on the test pieces (samples) (information on the origin of the samples is not required) - Information on tests on the products and may include ; - The test methods employed - Process data e. Report quality data. This is the case when the customer and the supplier agreed that the supplier provides quality data not related to an inspection document. This can be the case: - When together with the Goods ready for despatch message the customer wants to give some basic product information about the chemical and mechanical properties - When the supplier is not providing inspection documents - For hire working purposes. 6
