5 Welding Applications Sectional Committee, MTD 12 NATONAL FOREWORD This ndian Standard ( Part 1 ) which is identical with SO : 1994 Quality requirements for welding Fusion welding of metallic materials Part 1 : Guidelines for selection and use issued by the nternational Organization for Standardization ( SO ) was adopted by the Bureau of ndian Standards on the recommendations of the Welding Applications Sectional Committee and approval of the Metallurgical Engineering Division Council. n this adopted standard, some terminology and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in ndian Standards. Attention is especially drawn to the following: a) Wherever the words nternational Standard appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ndian Standard. b) Comma (, ) has been used as a decimal marker while in ndian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (. ) as the decimal marker. n this adopted standard, reference appears to certain nternational Standards for which ndian Standards also exist.
