The local park authority is taking legal action because it says the beauty of the area around Widows Ridge is being spoilt by an open-cast mine. The firm began working Pickford Quarry in January 2000, and is allowed to quarry limestone when extracting other minerals such as fluorspar or lead. But the park authority says the company is breaching the terms of its agreement. 13 QUESTION NINE Limestone is used to reduce air pollution. A student tests four samples of sulfuric acid by adding powdered limestone to them. The sulfuric acid is 5cm 3 in volume and 1M in concentration.
