Dupont Starblast Starblast blasting abrasives are a loose blend of uniformly sized coarse and fine staurolite sands that have clean, rounded surfaces. Cleaning speed, low dust generation, and recyclability make Dupont Starblast a good choice for removal of mill scale, rust, and weathered coatings. 2 Garnet Garnet is a non ferrous, 100% natural inert mineral containing less than 1% free silica that poses little to no health or environmental risks. It produces less dust than other abrasives, improves operator visibility and reduces cleanup costs while minimizing the impact on adjoining work areas. 3 Coal Slag Coal Slag is a non ferrous, chemically inert, blasting abrasive that features low dusting, and low free silica content. Coal slag is used for removing paint, rust, mill scale, and other contaminants from steel surfaces. Coal Slag meets or exceeds industry, military and California standards, thereby enhancing worker safety and potentially reducing costs associated with special waste handling and worker liability insurance. 5 Steel Grit Cast angular grit is produced by crushing specially heat treated steel shot pellets. Its blast cleaning characteristics are dependent upon the Rockwell C hardness of the material. It is best suited to compressed air blasting applications. 6 Steel Shot Steel shot has a spherical structure of finely tempered martensite steel to provide optimum resilience. Its durability and resistance to impact fatigue provide maximum cleaning efficiency at the most economical cost. It is best suited to shot peening applications. 7 Armex Armex baking soda abrasive is used to clean, de paint, and degrease metals, aluminum, other alloys, composites, and even plastics, and composites. Armex is delivered using compressed air or with a pressure washer where it is injected into the water stream. 8 Aluminum Oxide Aluminum oxide is produced by fusing bauxite and anthracite in an electric arc furnace at high temperature. Aluminum Oxide grains feature multiple sharp cutting edges, maximum resistance to breakdown, and contain no crystalline free silica making it one of the fastest, most versatile and economical cutting abrasives available, usable in both dry and wet blasting applications from cleaning and deburring to etching and finishing. 9 Glass Beads Glass beads are a chemically inert, environmentally friendly abrasive that contain no free silica. They are manufactured to uniform size and hardness and used for precise blast cleaning control for peening, cleaning, finishing, and deburring. 10 Silicon Carbide Black Silicon Carbide is produced in electrical furnaces from high purity silica sand and petroleum coke. Its combination of being very hard and sharp makes it a very aggressive abrasive ideal for many applications. Black Silicon Carbide is typically used on hard or brittle materials. It is also used for kiln furniture, lapping and polishing, non woven, tumbling, pressure blasting, anti skid, electrical heating elements, aerospace, and composites. 11 Plastic Media Plastic Media Blasting is a proven, environmentally friendly safe alternative to chemical strippers and other hard abrasives. Plastic media is used for a wide variety of commercial industrial applications including paint stripping, surface preparation, deflashing, deburring, mold cleaning, and contamination stripping. Plastic media is used for cleaning ferrous and non ferrous metals, composite materials, and delicate surfaces. 12 Organic Blast Media CSI supplies organic blasting abrasives including Walnut Shells and Corn Cobs. These products are all natural, 100% silica free making them an environmentally abrasive for delicate blasting processes.
