Color Customization on Demand Solution Ready, Technology Innovation Dr. Srinivas Rao
Color Customization on Demand Solution Ready, Technology Innovation Abstract: In nature color is rampant, vivid and takes on every hue, shade and tone. Color excites our senses. At the product level color can be persuasive and make a sale. Color brings identity, and choice allows personalization. While color is rampant, the trove for color extracts is limited. Not all organic and inorganic minerals, dyes, and pigments are necessarily safe or non toxic. The use of such materials as colorants generates ecological challenges. In contrast iridescent colors seen in birds, fishes and insects in nature are safe and non toxic. How is this so? In species color is due to structure. COLR technology provides that same advantage through manipulation of structure deploying superparamagnetic iron oxide particles. On demand COLR Technology is based on a breakthrough discovery by Dr. Yadong Yin in This presentation discusses developments off a self-assembly approach based on magnetically responsive photonic crystals in a UV curable system. The environmentally friendly system solution has wide dynamic color range and selection is possible by tuning of the magnetic field. These field-responsive photonic structures have applications in areas such as color displays, smart inks and paints, antifraud devices to name few.
Sight: The Experience Our Color experience comes from observing it in nature In nature Color is rampant, wild, vivid, and iridescent. The experience of color in living nature is safe, non toxic and stems through manipulation of nanostructures. Structural color has many characteristics that differ from those of chemical pigments or dyes. Rather than absorbing and reflecting wavelengths of light, structural color is produced by diffractive interference of light from periodic nanostructures. The resulting color from the reflected light is thus brighter and more intense.
Why COLR Technology Engineered Structural COLR s Sustainability Sustainable, eco friendly manufacturing Intelligent Factory Management Technology allows smart factory management Few SKU to achieve vast color library Eco Friendly Low capital, eco friendly color application system Simplified manufacturing steps, hence low cost
COLR Technology COLR Technology is the first proprietary and patent pending photonic crystal inorganic system to create tunable structural color. By varying the strength of a magnetic field, the CNC s move closer or farther apart. Enabling control over the full dynamic range from UV to near infrared. Color control is contact free. Requiring no specialty electrodes or current for managing color. Vibrant, iridescent, structural color can be controlled with a simple magnetic field.

COLR Core Technology Dynamic System The color changing properties of the pigment can be engineered depending on the application. Dynamic color change is achieved by varying the viscosity of the pigment. With low viscosity colors appear and disappear quickly, whereas higher viscosity polymers allow colors to linger. Bi-stable System Fixed System X Bi-stable color is achieved using a phase-changing polymer. The polymer can change viscosity instantaneously, allowing colors to be tuned & fixed. The process can be repeated. Fixed Permanent color is achieved using a high viscosity polymer that is irreversibly fixed to a specific color.
