Optimal rotational speed and driving performance of the drive (compressed air, electric, flexible shank) are essential for economic use. This is why we recoend: 1. Use the highest rotational speed possible. Only in exceptional cases (e.g. in stationary machines or when countersinking with fully iersed burr) should rotational speed be kept below min Chucks must be absolutely concentric to avoid chipping. Tool runout and chatter will result in premature wear. 3. Work with significantly reduced rotational speed on materials of low thermal conductivity (e.g. stainless steel, titanium alloys) to prevent tool damage and the typical blue discolouration of the shank and tool.. In fine cutting applications (deburring, chamfering, minor surface work) the rotational speed may be increased to twice the indicated value. 5. When machining soft, heavily lubricating materials liable to cause loading problems, the use of a suitable lubricant is recoended (grease, petroleum, chalk). n = rotational speed, D = tool diameter, V c = cutting speed.
