4 Molecular Sieve Hengye USA manufactures and distributes a variety of molecular sieves including Angstrom Molecular Sieves, Carbon, Zeolite and Mesoporous. Molecular sieves are crystalline metal aluminosilicates having a three-dimensional interconnecting network of silica and alumina tetrahedra. Natural water of hydration is removed from this network by heating to produce uniform cavities which selectively adsorb molecules of a specific size. A 4 to 8-mesh sieve is normally used in gasphase applications, while the 8 to 12-mesh type is common in liquidphase applications. The powder forms of the 3A, 4A, 5A and 13X sieves are suitable for specialized applications. Long known for their drying capacity (even to 90 C), molecular sieves have recently demonstrated utility in synthetic organic procedures, frequently allowing isolation of desired products from condensation reactions that are governed by generally unfavorable equilibria. These synthetic zeolites have been shown to remove water, alcohols (including methanol and ethanol), and HCl from such systems as ketimine and enamine syntheses, ester condensations, and the conversion of unsaturated aldehydes to polyenals. 6 3A Molecular Sieve Application: 3A Molecular Sieve is used for commercial dehydration of unsaturated hydrocarbon streams such as cracked gas, acetylene, propylene, and butadiene. It is also used for dehydration of alcohol and solvents. 7 4A Molecular Sieve Description: An alkali metal alumino-silicate, in the sodium form of the Type A crystal structure. Type 4A will adsorb molecules with critical diameters up to 4 Å angstroms. All molecules which can be adsorbed on Molecular Sieve Type 3A can be adsorbed on Type 4A. Applications: Multi-purpose. Used for the dehydration and purification of various hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon gas and liquid streams. Drying and removing of CO2 from natural gas, LPG, air, inert and atmospheric gases, etc. Drying of organic liquids such as refrigerants, LPG, and gasoline. Removal of hydrocarbons, ammonia and methanol from gas streams (ammonia synthesis gas treating) Regeneration: Type 4A molecular sieve can be regenerated for re-use by purging or evacuating at elevated temperatures. The degree of regeneration (water removal) is dependent on the temperature and humidity of the purge gas. Using a dry purge gas at an inlet temperature of C and a pressure of 0.3 ~ 0.5 kg/ cm², heat the molecular sieve bed. As the temperature in outlet reaches 150 ~ 180 C, let the bed cool off. 9 5A Molecular Sieve Description: An alkali metal alumino-silicate, in the calcium form of the Type A crystal structure. Type 5A will adsorb molecules with critical diameters up to 5 Å angstroms. All molecules which can be adsorbed on Molecular Sieve types 3A and 4A can be adsorbed on Type 5A. Applications: Multi-purpose. Used for the dehydration and purification of various hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon gas and liquid streams. It is used for the separation of straight and branched chain hydrocarbons, sweetening and drying of natural gases and the production of high purity hydrogen. Regeneration: Type 5A molecular sieve can be regenerated for re-use by purging or evacuating at elevated temperatures. 15 Carbon Molecular Sieves (CMS) The carbon molecular sieve (CMS) is a kind of late-model nonpolarity sorbent. It has the performance to absorb oxygen in the air under changing pressure of normal temperature, so it can gain rich nitrogen gas. Traditional rich nitrogen in air plant is produced to adopt deep freezing method, that is to make air liquefy under low temperature, separate oxygen and nitrogen through rectification. Now our plant adopts the new technique of changing pressure adsorptive process of carbon molecular sieve, compared with deep freezing, it has many characteristics. Its most remarkable characteristic is that N2 has little impurity content, N2 concentration and air current can be adjusted according to the requirements, and can gain high purity N2 with less than 5ppm O2 content and lower than -60 æ dew point through refine. 20 Activated Alumina Activated alumina is a highly porous, ceramic compound that can absorb both gases and liquids without changing form or disintegrating. It is often used to absorb water from the air and fluoride from drinking water. In addition, activated alumina can be regenerated. If heated to approximately 200, the absorption process is reversed and the aluminas will release the water it has absorbed. Activated alumina is mainly used in gaseous and liquid desiccation in petrochemical industry. It is also widely applied as a dryer in textile industry, oxygen making industry and automatic instrument, equipments with non-heat regeneration.
