2 6th n Ferro-alloys Conference September 213 Hyatt Regency, Johannesburg In the ferro-alloys industry all eyes are again on, with mining making headlines on both a domestic and an international level. Recurrent political and social unrest in particular means one of the world s most important ferro-alloys producers remains a source of uncertainty for the global industry. The future of the ferro-chrome industry depends heavily on developments in South Africa and so far the picture looks blurry, with talks about a chrome ore export tax between the government and the ore and alloy producers still not decisive. Manganese alloys production has had a boost with BHP s recent capacity increase, but it is unclear that this is the trend other producers will follow, especially considering lower than expected alloys prices. And, crucially, what will the future solution for sustainable energy supplies in be and how will it impact the ore/alloy export balance from the country. Metal Bulletin Events 6th n Ferro-alloys Conference in Johannesburg will answer these questions and more with speakers from the international industry and the key players in the region in attendance. Chinese exports of high-carbon ferro-chrome ( tonnes) Chinese ferro-chrome exports during Q1 were higher than during the whole of 212 as producers look for higher prices outside of China Benefits of attending: Q1 12 Q2 12 Q3 12 Q4 12 Q1 13 Networkwith the key decision makers from the length of the ferro-alloys supply chain and government bodies Understandwhere the supply/ demand balance for chrome, manganese, nickel and vanadium currently stands Source: Metal Bulletin Research European HC ferro-chrome price vs global stainless steel production (% change y-o-y) Ferro-chrome prices declined in early 213 y-o-y despite gains in stainless output Mar 1 Sep 1 Mar 11 Sep 11 Mar 12 Sep 12 Mar 13 Source: ISSF, Metal Bulletin Research Global stainless output (LHS) European FeCr price (RHS) Discoverhow the new manganese projects in will evolve in the future Findout how energy and infrastructure constraints might be overcome to fully unlock the potential of the region Hearwhat effect the recent government national beneficiation and industrialisation programme will have on the ferro-alloys markets in
