This process forms mesuring junction which is n integrl prt of the end cp nd electriclly grounded to the sheth. The most common junction style, grounded junctions protect the thermocouple conductors from contmintion nd offer fst response times. Order Symbol: G-Single or Dul Element R-REOTE OR UNGROUNDED END CAP INSUATION The conductors re first junction welded together. Prior to cp welding the sheth, the junction is covered with insulting mteril to insulte it from the sheth nd end cp. Remote junctions protect the thermocouple conductors from both contmintion nd outside electricl interference. They re used whenever electricl isoltion of the element is desirble. Order Symbol: R Single Element RC* Dul Element Common RS* Dul Element Seprte E-EXPOSED INSUATION The sheth mteril is stripped bck slightly nd the conductors re welded together to form mesuring junction. The exposed insultion is seled ginst moisture penetrtion. Exposed junctions provide the fstest possible response times but do not offer protection to the thermocouple conductors. 3 FURNACE TUBE TEPERATURE THEROCOUPES Whenever thermocouple must be welded in plce it is dvisble to use weld pd nd weld clips to protect ginst burn-through of the sheth mteril during field instlltion. Sndelius weld pds, weld clips nd weld pd covers re vilble in wide rnge of styles nd mterils. Stndrd W, W nd W style weld pds mesure / x / x /8. Inconel 600 or 0SS hve proven to be excellent choices for most furnce pplictions. Other mterils re vilble on request.
