1 -System CORROSION PROTECTION FOR BRIDGE CABLES OF STEEL AND GALVANIZED STEEL DESCRIPTION The -System consists of 4 coating materials as well as a sealant and a injection material. Suitable for coating or sealing of bridge cables and steel constructions exposed to vibration as well as deformation. FE Primer, ZN Primer, Sika Cable TOP-1 and TOP-2 have low solvent content according to Protective Coatings Directive of German Paint Industry Association (VdL-RL 04). FE Primer: 2-pack primer of low solvent content, based on epoxy resin. It contains active corrosion pigments, is versatile overcoatable and adheres very well to steel. ZN Primer: 2-pack primer of low solvent content, based on epoxy resin. The product contains micaceous iron oxide, is versatile overcoatable, of high chemical and mechanical resistance and adheres very well to galvanized steel. TOP-1: 2-pack intermediate coat of low solvent content, based on polyurethane. It contains micaceous iron oxide and is of high elasticity, impact strength, wear resistance and very good corrosion protection. The product is high-build applicable and very fast curing. Flex-2: Flexible, solvent-free 2-pack injection resin of low viscosity based on polyurethane for filling hollow spaces, (e.g. in parallel cables) and has a high penetration ability. USES -System may only be used by experienced professionals. Flexible and high-build corrosion protection for bridge cables of steel and galvanized steel. CHARACTERISTICS / ADVANTAGES Very good corrosion protection characteristics Flexible, even at low temperatures High weather and colour resistance APPROVALS / CERTIFICATES The coating system is tested and listed according to German Guidelines ZTV-KOR Cables and TL/TP- KOR Cables (draft of ). TOP-2: 2-pack flexible, lightfast and weather resistant polyurethane top coat of low solvent content. Flex-1: Flexible, solvent-free 2-pack sealant based on polyurethane. Because of its high flexibility and expansion ability it is especially suitable for filling joints and gaps exposed to vibration (e.g. anchoring of bridge cables). -System 1 / 5

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS SURFACE PREPARATION Steel: Blast-cleaning to Sa 2 ½ according to ISO Free from dirt, oil and grease. Galvanized steel: Free from oil, grease and corrosion products. Surface preparation according to ZTV-ING, part 4, section 5 Corrosion protection of cables and ropes. MIXING Coating materials: Stir Component A very thoroughly using an electric stirrer. Add component B and mix both components very thoroughly (including sides and bottom of the container). Flex-1 and Flex-2: Stir component A slowly by means of an electric stirrer (max. 300 rpm), subsequently add hardener in the correct mixing proportion and mix intensively again using an electric stirrer ( rpm) until a homogeneous mixture is achieved (min. 3 minutes). Take care that no air is entrapped. APPLICATION Coating materials: The method of application has a major effect on achieving uniform thickness and appearance. Adding solvents reduces the sag resistance and the dry film thickness. In case of application by roller or brush, additional applications may become necessary to achieve the required coating thickness, depending on type of construction, site conditions, colour shade etc. Prior to major coating operations a test application on site may be useful to ensure the selected application method will provide the requested results. By brush and roller: According to ZTV-KOR 'Cables' brushing is the preferred application method Where light and intense colour shades are applied, a second top coat might become necessary Flex-1 and Flex-2: The application technique depends on the design features of the project Steel has to be primed with FE Primer, galvanized steel with ZN Primer Do not thin Flex-1 and Flex-2!
