Waste disposal (Rule 13) Development & Production over 85m X 2m X 5m was proposed at the end of Regular one bench was proposed in mineral. Ore to waste ratio for mine was estimated as 41. Area proposed under pit was around 25ha. There are three pits within lease area of 285 m X 8 m X 4.5 m, 175 m X 59 m X 4.1 m and 12 m X 65 m X 4.1 m over the proposed area. Another abandoned pit on west side of lease area is there. Shape of the lease area has been changed in 211 and nonlease block (shown in approved SOM) is not there inside the lease area due to adoption of Gat number instead of S.F. number. Regular one bench is there in all the three pits in mineral. Ore to waste ratio for mine during last three years is 21. Area covered under pits is 23.53ha as on date. a.location of dumps e.yearly generation of waste quantity. Simultaneous backfilling was proposed over 8.277ha and 6.944ha of mined out area during and Reclaimed & rehabilitated area is hardly 2.25ha of the total 23.53ha area put in use under pits. Reject generation from ROM is below 5% during last three years compared to 2% estimated in approved SOM. It was proposed to 12t intercalated waste generate 1,25,t was generated 2% of ROM as getting 2252t bauxite Page 4 of 1

Forest(flora and fauna) f. Vegetation h. Public building, places and monuments (protected, historical), placec of worship and places of tourist B Water environment. a. Surface water b. Ground water c. Quality of water C. Air environment a. Noise b. Air c. Climatic condition D. Socio economic environment The Lease area is in mount shape and top of the deposit is in the form of platue. The overburden laterite capping is dumped properly and levelled and subsequently used for backfilling. Maximum RL m, Minimum RL m Afforestation is carried out on the Backfilled area, 325 saplings have been planted so far. The Lease area is covered with Laterite which is acting as topsoil for plantation. The Lease area is mostly barren Land. No agricultural area within lease, Rice, Millets, Mango,Cashew are agricultural crops cultivated in surrounding lease areas. There will be no impact on agricultural activity due to the mining. The area is Private non-forest revenue Land. There is no forest land in surrounding area. Natural vegetation in the form of shrubs is there in lease area. Surrounding Lease area occupied by vegetation like Mango, Kokum, Cashew, Chikku. Sri Devi Mandir, Umbershet is there at 2kms distance. Bauxite mining operation does not dispose off any effluent in the surrounding watercourses. Surface water is not going to be affected either qualitatively & quantitatively. The area receives normal rainfall & it is hilly terrain. The bauxite mining operations are confined to 4 to 6m from surface, which is above the ground water table. The bauxite mining operations on the plateau does not have adverse impact on either yield or movement of ground water. There are no any effluents generated from Mining Operation. During monsoon period water is naturally stored in settling pond and discharged through seepage. Most of the mining operations are either manual or with small excavator. Noise level is within permissible limit. Continuous air quality monitoring is carried out, there is proper maintenance of tar-road for transportation of minerals and permanent water sprinkling system has been installed throughout the length of the main road. The climatic condition of the area is hilly terrain and receive more than 4mm rain. Dense afforestation is there in surrounding area. Page 7 of 1

8 PAGE 8 a. Social and demographic profile. b. Recommending health and safety. c. Human settlement d. Recreational facility. The mine is situated in the coastal area, where the socio- economic level of the people is not satisfactory. The main occupation of the people is rain depended farming. Due to uneven topographic condition & less availability of the soil, the agricultural output is comparatively low & there are no major industries in the area. This might have forced the local people to migrate towards the cities. The mining operations is providing direct & indirect employment to more than 5 persons. Moderate amount of dust generated is being suppressed by water sprinkling system and by water tankers.training relating to Health and Safety is been given to Employees. Medical Camp is been Organized in Villages. Bauxite does not contain any toxic elements. Hence the possibility of any health hazards is minimum. There is No Human Settlement in Lease area. Nearby Surrounding villages are Umbershet, Kelshi, Wanjloli and Occupied with thin Human Settlements. There is Rest Shelter, canteen, Toilets constructed for Mine Officials in the Mine. Temporary arrangement for Playing Volleyball is present at Site. Indoor games are also encouraged (Chess). Provision of Television is there for Mine Officials. 7.1 Comments on the steps taken by the lessee towards maintaining environment and monitoring of environmental parameters to ensure the qualitative improvement in the environment and ecology.
