Color-Grip has been developed so that when used with the appropriate aggregate it can provide a long term natural or colored surfacing system for practically any purpose. Color-Grip Anti-Skid surface finishing systems for traffic management can be easily applied to most all surfaces including asphalt, bitumen, concrete, wood, steel and aluminum. DECORATIVE PAVING: A wide range of natural and manufactured aggregates can be used. The normal size range is between 1 and 3mm. Aggregates must be sound enough to withstand the loads envisaged and it is vital that aggregates are clean, dry and free from dust. When combining Color-Grip PHR Resin & Color-Grip Natural or Colored Aggregates together creates an Anti-Skid gravel Surface Dressing/ Coating. A wide selection of natural colored aggregates provide an attractive low maintenance surface which is suitable for light to heavy traffic use. Color-Grip provides an aesthetic, long lasting surface, for a vast range of applications from domestic driveways to large corporate and landscaping schemes. The attractive, traditional appearance of the various gravels and chippings makes them highly suitable for high profile heritage sites, where a sympathetic appearance is crucial. Color-Grip application requires 2 elements, Color-Grip PHR polyurethane adhesive and Color-Grip Natural or colored stones. Color-Grip PHR Resin A two part, solvent free polyurethane hybrid resin adhesive system with optional color for use with several types of selected aggregates providing a complete anti-skid surfacing system. Color-Grip PHR is supplied in a neutral amber color, which can be tinted with Color-Grip Pigment Packs to match a wide range of natural or pre-colored and custom coated stone aggregates. Color-Grip Natural and colored AGGREGATES Color-Grip is the name of a range of high performance pigmented resin coated aggregates to be used as the dressing / top coat in conjunction with cold curing resin systems such as Cold-Grip PHR. 3 Preparation & Application PRODUCT PREPARATION AND APPLICATION INFORMATION - Color-Grip How To Use Surface Preparation: Ensure that the substrate is sound, clean, dry, contamination-free and suitable for the purpose. Any existing cracks or imperfections are likely to reflect through the Color-Grip. It is important that any dust and foreign matter are removed. Remove oil, grease and similar contamination by washing with a suitable de greasing agent, followed by flushing with water. After preparation, ensure that the surface is completely dry. The use of a hot compressed air lance is advised. Any de-icing salt must be thoroughly washed away. Priming: In most instances Color-Grip is self-priming. However, on highly absorbent concrete and weathered timber, it is advisable to prime first with US Reflector Primer C. Typical Application: 1) Ensure all mixing is carried out upon a suitably protected surface, to prevent contamination. 2) If using pigment packs, prior to adding the activator, empty the entire contents of the pigment pack into the base material and fully disperse for 1-2 minutes using a drill and paddle. 3) Using a drill and paddle blend the total content of activator (small container) into the base material. 4) Mix both components thoroughly until homogenous (2-3 minutes) ensuring all material from the sides and bottom of the drum is included. 5) Pour mixed material onto surface and immediately squeegee out, using a serrated squeegee. 6) Having squeegeed out the material, immediately broadcast aggregate onto the surface ensuring that the resin is totally blinded by aggregate. 7) If an adjoining area is to be treated, leave a wet edge and apply the contents of the next pack as soon as possible to avoid a possible joint effect 8) Sweep off excess aggregate when resin system has cured. Uncontaminated aggregate may be recovered for re-use. CONSIDERATIONS Deep depressions or pot-holes will result in the formation of mounds or ridges in the final surface. It is essential that these are made good prior to overlaying with Color-Grip. Very rough or deeply tamped concrete may require an additional application of Color-Grip PHR resin to even out irregularities. Coverage & Curing Coverage will depend largely upon the type and condition of the substrate, surface temperature and the size/shape of aggregate. Resin Base Material: 14m2-18 m2 per 17.5 Kg pack is obtainable dependent on the surface texture and the grade of aggregate to be used. Initial 20 C - 1 Hour Open to 20 C - 2 Hours Aggregates : Aggregates must be dry and dust-free. Expect aggregate to be retained at an approximate coverage rate of lbs per square yard / 5kg/m2 (200m2/tonne). CONSIDERATIONS Ensure additional aggregate is available on site to provide full blinding of applied resin. This would typically mean applying aggregates at approximately 8kg/m2. Packaging & Storage Color-Grip is supplied in 2-part sealed containers - Part A and Part B. Total pack weight = 17.5 Kgs approx. Store under cover, in dry conditions.
