19 Cermet Grades General Description The main ingredients of cermet are TiC (titanium carbide), TiN (titanium nitride) and TiCN (titanium carbonitride). In comparison with WC (tungsten carbide) whose main ingredients are sintered carbide alloy, the cermet composites show strength and antioxidization under high temperature and resists build up on steel materials, therefore, an excellent surface finish can be obtained. These characteristics of cermet make it possible for high speed and high efficient cutting applications. The newer added CX series is for general purpose applications.
