HACCP methodology is used to ensure that our Detergents grades are safe and meet the requirements of our customers. Our products are REACh registered. NATURAL RAW MATERIALS FOR DETERGENTS Soda Ash is first produced through the carbonation of purified natural salt brine. The Sodium Bicarbonate is obtained through a complementary carbonation of an aqueous Soda Ash solution. The carbon dioxide used in the carbonation comes entirely from the calcination of natural high-purity limestone. Sodium Sulphate is a by-product made suitable for detergents uses after processing. 2

3 INGREDIENTS FOR DETERGENTS AND CLEANING PRODUCTS BENEFITS OF OUR DETERGENTS GRADES Detergents are used to clean dirty surfaces without changing their nature. They are composed of several ingredients which allow the formulation to be efficient. For example, a solid laundry detergent is a blend of several compounds such as surfactant, builder, filler, bleaching agent, corrosion inhibitor. The surfactant is the key compound of the formulation. When added in water, it allows a better surface washing through the reduced surface tension of water. Soda Ash is a builder. It decreases the water hardness by chelating the calcium and magnesium ions and precipitating insoluble calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate. Soda Ash can be supplied in 2 different grades, Light or Dense. Soda Ash has a high reserve alkalinity improving stain removal. Soda Ash has a range of ph values higher than 8 comparable to NaOH solution. It is a better supplier of alkalinity compared to other builders based only on silicate. The ph of the wash liquor is a crucial factor as well affecting the efficiency of the washing process. The ph regulation of Dense Soda Ash and Light Soda Ash grades counters the effect of acid soil particles and enhances soil removal. Light Soda Ash is also suitable for the absorption of great quantity of useful liquid materials onto its surface while still remaining visually dry and keeping its free flowing properties. Soda Ash is also used as a raw material in the production of different detergents ingredients such as sodium percarbonate, which is a bleach releasing hydrogen peroxide during the washing step, and sodium silicate, which is a corrosion inhibitor extending the lifetime of washing machines. Sodium Sulphate is an inert and white filler in powder detergents. The filler is a bulk component in many washing powders. It acts as a flowability aid. At home, in the daily life, Sodium Bicarbonate and Soda Ash are also used by everyone through washing soda and homemade washing powders. 4 INGREDIENTS FOR DETERGENTS AND CLEANING PRODUCTS NaHCO 3 SODIUM BICARBONATE ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY The use of sodium bicarbonate is environment friendly. On the contrary of sodium hydroxide and sodium carbonate, it is not classified as hazardous. Sodium Bicarbonate commercial grades contain > 99.4 % NaHCO 3 and < 0.2 % H 2 O. To your request, all our grades can be rendered into a hydrophobic (delay the solution kinetics) or free-flowing enhanced ones. Sodium Bicarbonate commercial grades are delivered through 25 kg sacs or big bags (from 500 to 1,450 kg) on covered wooden pallets or bulk 25 t silotrucks. EFFERVESCENT POWER In solution, the reaction between sodium bicarbonate and an acid (citric acid for instance) leads to the formation of a very stable foam. The effervescent properties of sodium bicarbonate can be used to reduce the dissolution time of tablets as well. Sodium Bicarbonate commercial grades are to be stored under dry conditions (temperature lower than 40 C with a relative humidity inferior to 70%) in their original packaging or in stainless steel silo. The stacking of pallets is forbidden to avoid caking. Our Sodium Bicarbonate range goes from fine powder to medium sized particles and even granulates. The medium sized and ultra coarse grades are suitable for blend in a dry mixing process, whereas technical grade (BC P) is dedicated to granulation process. Sodium Sulphate commercial grades are delivered through 1 mt big bags on covered wooden pallets or bulk silotrucks. On request, possible delivery in sacs 25 kg. Sodium Sulphate is sensitive to caking. Commercial grades are to be stored under dry conditions in their original packaging or in stainless steel silo. The stacking of pallets is forbidden to avoid caking. SURFACTANT ABSORPTION CAPACITY High liquid absorption capacity with standard surfactant as well as with green surfactants. The high bulk density grades are suitable for blend in a dry mixing process, whereas the low density grade helps to absorb liquid thus keeping the blend visually dry and free flowing. Thanks to its dispersing power, Nabion TM does not lead to calcium carbonate precipitate, responsible for mineral incrustation. Thanks to its labelling, Nabion 26 TM, as a non corrosive builder, offers more flexibility in the formulation in respect of consumers safety. 8 LAUNDRY DETERGENTS: NABION 15 TM & NABION 26 TM For laundry detergents, the builder system represents about 40-60% of the formulation. It has to soften the water by removing Ca and Mg ions, to provide alkalinity as the ph of the wash liquor is a crucial factor impacting the washing efficiency, and to prevent redeposition of soils on fabrics. Owing to the decrease of washing temperature and water consumption as well as shorter washing cycles, the builder system has to be totally water soluble in a short dissolution time with a high Ca and Mg sequestration capacity. The trend to more synthetic, colored and fragile fabric requires as well a good balance in alkalinity to prevent damages on fabric. Laundry detergent Ref. 9 ADW DETERGENTS: NABION 15 TM & NABION 26 TM OPTIMUM EFFICIENCY A dishwashing detergent has to remove soil from the items such as glassware and dishes. It has to reduce water hardness by binding ions such as calcium and magnesium. But, to get an optimum efficiency, it must prevent corrosion, the most important being glass corrosion. The Nabion product range can be powerful in dishwashing formulation. It has excellent washing properties due to its alkalinity. It can bind an important level of calcium and magnesium to reduce lime deposit and glass corrosion or damage on decorated porcelain.
