Extensive experience in the areas of solidification and microstructural analysis, particularly welding related. Engineering support related to welding process development and materials selection to production facilities. Alloy development to determine a welding solution for high alloy stainless steel materials for applications in marine environments. Evaluation of fusion zone corrosion resistance of various alloys and welding processes according to ASTM standards. Calculation of multi component phase diagrams to direct alloy development efforts, model solidification, and anticipate phase transformation behavior. Direct research in the general areas of physical metallurgy, welding and joining, and solidification. Experimental program design, analytical procedure development, and laboratory analysis for industrial customers. Experience with the use of analytical techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, electron backscattered diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, transmission electron microscopy and x ray diffraction.
