1 EUROPEAN SHEET PILES S.A. Cold formed teel heet pile 27

2 The Company Europe Sheet Pile Sa i a company pecialized in the cold formed teel heet pile, and actually one of the few in the world of thi kind of product. The company i located in Manno (Switzerland) with it ha an intalled capacity of 3. ton per year. It hareholder tarted out in 989 a a production plant for welded teel pipe and heet pile. A the involvement with heet pile grew deeper, the company equipped itelf with an engineering department, and came into poeion of the whole know-how, inherent both in the production plant and in the heet pile themelve. Cot-effective olution, and timely product delivery, are two of our main aet. The flexibility of our production proce, baed on cold forming, enable u to offer our cutomer a product carefully tailored on their requirement, in term of thickne and length of the heet pile. Application of cold formed heet pile Contruction of dock and port Waterway Breakwater Protection of river bank and channel Protection of contruction pit in oil and water Bridge embankment Retaining wall Foundation Underground parking Underpae, ramp and tunnel Slope protection Environmental protection and rubbih dump Noie barrier Encloure of contaminated oil Civil and indutrial ite Civil defene Military engineering Advantage of cold formed heet pile The main advantage of cold formed heet pile i the imple and economical production proce, compared with hot rolling. The effect i not only a more affordable price but alo: higher flexibility of production, allowing a jut-in-time delivery cutomized manufacturing with exactly the dimenion (length and thickne) needed almot no wate of material cot aving!2

6 New generation of cold formed heet pile Standard conventional cold formed heet pile are produced with wall thickne of maximum 9 mm with only weak interlocking connection. The range of application i therefore limited; for heavy civil engineering work in general only hot rolled profile are ued. Our technology enable now the production of a complete new generation of cold formed heet pile: wall thickne up to 3 mm improved trong interlocking With thee new heavy cold formed profile Europe Sheet Pile SA penetrate right into the domain of hot rolled heet pile offering a highly economical alternative. The interlocking mechanim offer trong connection and jam-proof guidance, and can alo be made watertight by uing bitumen or rein. Europe Sheet Pile SA provide: delivery corner ection heating and coating cutom-made handling hole horing!6

A triple, factory-welded RU pile tranfer horizontal load to the tubular pile. Connection between the triple pile and the tubular i provided by an interlock, welded lengthwie along the tubular. The following table detail the reult of different pile-tubular combination. The two column weight 6% and weight % refer repectively to the cae where the pile length i 6% (or %) of the tubular length,!7

A triple, factory-welded RU pile tranfer horizontal load to the king pile. Thi combination ha the additional advantage of offering protection from corroion for the beam. The H beam can be welded to the inner face of the pile, a hown above, or to the outer face, a hown in the following page. Here are everal poible combination. 9 ACRU Unit Thi i a unit tudied explicitly a a replacement for the Z-ection hot- or cold-formed heet pile. Without any increae in weight, thi unit reache higher value of moment of inertia and of elatic ection modulu, yet maintaining the typical advantage U-ection enjoy over Z-ection: eay driving, excellent tatic propertie due to large flange thickne, eay fixing of tie-rod and wiveling attachment, even under water, eae of re-ue thank to the ymmetrical form. 10 Special ection Europe Sheet Pile Sa upplie a lot of pecial ection. We can provide corner heet pile (ee picture). RU pile are bent in the middle of the flange, normally at a 9, but different angle can be provided up on requet. We alo deliver widened or narrowed heet pile to fulfil the working plan. Sheet pile can be upplied factory-welded, for intance, for the ake of improved water-tigthtedne. Due to the preence of the handling hole cloe to one end of the pile, two heet-pile can be welded together in the S or Z hape. We d like to remark that our heet pile interlock can join two wall with angle of incidence up to 2, without any need for bent pile. Europe Sheet Pile can alo offer ad hoc deign. For intance, double welded heet pile have been occaionally manufactured on demand, to overcome obtacle and to addre ideway-verticality problem in long heet piling application. In a imilar way, cro-over element can be produced (to join wall made up of different pile, e.g., cold-rolled and hot-rolled pile wall) Handling hole Unle explicitly requeted, our heet pile are currently being upplied WITHOUT ANY handling hole. Such hole can be obtained on demand. Popular pecification for handling hole are: quare hape 4/4 mm, at a ditance of 3 mm from the edge.!
