2 Linear Shafts Technica Information Linear shaft bars ov-inear-shafts-technica-info - Updated Linear Shafts from Automotion Components Hardened stee inear shafting (L1770 L1771) Carbon stee to BS 070M55 hardened to HRC. Carbon Stee B.S. 070M55 is a medium carbon stee which is used when greater strength and hardness is desired than in it s as roed condition. Extreme size accuracy, straightness and concentricity are combined to minimise wear in high speed appications. Suitabe for use with a types of inear bushings. Corrosion resistant stee (L1772) 440C is a high carbon chromium martensitic stainess stee, generay suppied in the anneaed condition with a maximum hardness of HR C. Characterised by good corrosion resistance in mid domestic and industria environments, incuding fresh water, organic materias, mid acids, various petroeum products, couped with extreme high strength, hardness and wear resistance when in the hardened and tempered condition. Used for parts requiring a combination of exceent wear resistance, pus reasonabe corrosion resistance. Typica appications are: ba bearings and races, bushings, cutery, chises, knife bades, pump parts, surgica instruments, vave seats etc. Materia magnetic in a conditions. Suitabe for use with a types of inear bushings. Stainess stee AISI 303 (L1773) 303 is a free machining chromium-nicke austenitic stainess stee with good strength and good corrosion resistance, as suppied in the anneaed condition. Characterised by exceent machinabiity and non gaing properties due to its higher suphur content, which has the effect of sighty owering its corrosion resistance. It is however, fairy resistant to genera atmospheric corrosion, genera foodstuffs, steriizing soutions, dyestuffs, most organic chemicas, pus some inorganic chemicas. But has very imited resistance to acids. 303 cannot be hardened by therma treatment, but strength and hardness can be increased substantiay by cod working, with subsequent reduction in ductiity. It is used primariy for production runs invoving extensive machining, or compex parts requiring exceent machinabiity. Typica uses are: architectura components, food processing equipment, dairy equipment, dying industry, hardware and kitchenware manufacturing and aied industries. Commony used to manufacture bots and nuts, bushes, gears, shafts, vave bodies and fittings etc. Materia is non magnetic in the anneaed condition, but can become midy magnetic foowing heavy cod working. Anneaing is required to rectify if necessary. Not suitabe for use with inear ba bushings, pease use ceramic bearings. Stainess stee AISI 303(L1774) 316 is a chromium-nicke-moybdenum austenitic stainess stee with good strength and exceent corrosion resistance, as suppied in the anneaed condition. Characterised by high corrosion resistance in marine and industria atmospheres, it exhibits exceent resistance to choride attack and against compex suphur compounds empoyed in the pup and paper processing industries. The addition of 2% to 3% of moybdenum increases its resistance to pitting corrosion and improves its creep resistance at eevated temperatures. Aso it dispays good oxidation resistance at eevated temperatures and has exceent wedabiity. AISI 316 cannot be hardened by therma treatment, but strength and hardness can be increased substantiay by cod working, with subsequent reduction in ductiity. It is used extensivey by the marine, chemica, petrochemica, pup and paper, textie, transport, manufacturing and aied industries. Typica uses are: architectura components, textie equipment, pup and paper processing equipment, marine equipment and fittings, photographic equipment and x-ray equipment etc. Materia non magnetic in the anneaed condition, but can become midy magnetic foowing heavy cod working. Anneaing is required to rectify if necessary. Note: Optimum corrosion resistance is achieved in the anneaed condition. Not suitabe for use with inear ba bushings; pease use ceramic bearings.
