1 CALL FOR INTEREST BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE Atmosfair ggmbh Germany is looking for Implementation/Distribution/Sales Partner for efficient cook stoves in Nigeria. Atmosfair is developing a climate change mitigation programme under the UN Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) aiming to provide clean, affordable and efficient cook stoves to the people of Nigeria and thus earning carbon credits. What Atmosfair offers: -Import of high quality, prefabricated Save80 cooke stoves from Germany (including 2 pots and a heat retention box) at a very competitive subsidised price -Regular bonus payments for each stove sold and in use during the 10 year lifetime of the stove (subject to a regular independent verification of the benefits of stove usage for the customers) What is required by an implementation/distribution/sales partner? -Distribution of the cook stoves in pre-defined sales areas (Local Government Areas) -Import of the CKD (completely knocked down) stove parts from harbour and transport within Nigeria -Assembly and finishing of the pre manufactured Save80 cook stoves at a workshop -Collecting of information and database inputing from the stove end-users (to be used by atmosfair for Greenhouse Gas reduction monitoring which is essential for bonus payments) -A minimum of 1400 stoves can be ordered at once (several partners may order together) For more information please see the annexes Interested parties with experience in sales & marketing, who wish to register as distribution partners are invited to contact Florian Zerzawy or Xaver Kitzinger Atmosfair ggmbh Zossenerstr Berlin Germany Tel.: zerzawy@atmosfair.de kitzinger@atmosfair.de

2 Annex I: Project Set-Up Atmosfair ggmbh orders, finances and transports the Save80 cookers to Nigeria. We develop the project as a climate protection project under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and the Gold Standard. The Gold Standard Certified Emission Reductions generated in the project will be transferred to atmosfair, retired on our account at the German Emissions Registry and serve as income for atmosfair to finance the Save80 cookers and are used to finance the bonus payments to the cooperation partners. The cooperation partner is responsible for the local structure for project implementation: The partner finds/provides employees for assembly, sales and monitoring of the Save80 use in Nigeria which includes: Assembly: All components of the cooker are industrially produced in Germany which allows constant quality standards. No welding is necessary for the assembly of the stove as all components are fitted together by bolts and nuts. Trained technicians can assembly 20 stoves during an 8h working day. Sales: Potential customers are all households which currently use wood for cooking purposes without an efficient cook stove. The main sales arguments are: Costs savings if fuel wood has to be purchased, time saving as 80% less wood needs to be collected, better health as there is less smoke inside, faster cooking with less effort and modern cooking style for a very competitive price. In order to illustrate the advantages cooking demonstrations are recommended. Monitoring: In order to receive bonus payments a basic monitoring of the cook stoves is required. Each stove is fitted with a serial number. The cooperation partner is required to fill the serial number of the stove together with contact details of the customer in a simple database provided by atmosfair. Every year a small random sample of the customers will be contacted by atmosfair to verify the sales records and to ensure stoves are still used. Costs for project implementation in the country (duties, assembly, marketing, distribution, maintenance, transport within Nigeria) are covered through sales/lease revenues and bonus payments by atmosfair, providing a sustainable financial basis for the distributing organizations. Current Status: The pilot project is registered with the UN and stoves sales are going well. Atmosfair has developed a Programme Design Document for the full scale project and will submit it to independent validation end of Sales of efficient cook stoves by the project partners may begin thereafter. First bonus payments can be expected approximately 1 ½ years after the first stoves are sold.

5 atmosfair - when you have to fly Offsetting has become popular in the recent years. The principle is easy: Some greenhouse gases are difficult to avoid. Through offsetting, individuals or companies can pay voluntary climate fees, financing emission saving projects that save the same amount of emissions elsewhere. But there are questions around offsetting: do the projects really help, what percentage of the money gets through and can we make sure that offsetting does not provide a cheap copout? atmosfair has been established as a spin off from a research project of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, in order to set high standards, making offsetting a trustworthy contribution towards alleviating atmosfair project: Honduras, atmosfair small hydropower plant Our climate projects Enabling clean renewable energies atmosfair spends your climate contribution on renewable energy and energy-saving projects in developing countries. In these countries, you can save more CO2 with the same amount of money. atmosfair supports investors, who are willing to change their conventional fossil fuel energy project into a solar or wind project that creates the same amount of energy but is free of CO2 emissions. atmosfair projects undergo the approval procedure of the Clean Development Mechanism of the United Nations, which requires competent and liable auditors. In addition the projects have to meet the Gold Standard of the international environmental NGOs, such as the WWF. The Gold Standard applies strict criteria to the project technology and requires benefits for local people and the local environment. atmosfair standards Low administration costs, only 12% of revenues in CDM-Gold Standard climate projects. In most cases, diesel pumps are used which not only pump water but also emit CO2. atmosfair is now supporting the use of hydrams (using mechanical energy for water pumping) for irrigation and domestic water supply. India Indian school and hospital canteens are being supplied with modern solar panels and no longer have to use diesel or wood for their cooking. This creates new jobs and supports the dissemination of new technologies throughout the country.
