10 OFTL Accomplishments (provides 50% property tax reduction) 282 woodland owners statewide received five-year anniversary re-inspections in 2015 Foresters now evaluating the 272 certification reviews for FY 2016 To date there are 3,654 properties in the program covering 131,719 acres Currently working on rules changes for program

13 Hemlock Woolly Adelgid 2012 First find of HWA in natural forested setting (Meigs County) 7 counties have now been confirmed ODNR Hemlock Conservation Plan nearly complete Ohio Hemlock Conservation Partnership surveyed nearly 80% of hemlock stands in Hocking Hills in 2016 (no HWA found) Chemical and biological treatments ongoing

14 Asian Longhorned Beetle USDA APHIS eradication project in Clermont County since 2011 As of 2/11/17: 18,846 infested trees detected 18,450 infested trees removed 2.2 million trees surveyed DOF Tree Canopy Enhancement Program has distributed >1,600 trees to affected landowners

15 Thousand Cankers Disease Fungal disease of walnut vectored by the walnut twig beetle (WTB) and possibly other insects ~40 WTB traps have been monitored by DOF across state ~100 WTB traps have been monitored by ODA in/near Butler County No WTB caught since 2013 Possibly due to cold winters temps in 2014 &2015?

27 Certification of Ohio s State Forests In the fall of 2010, the Division of Forestry achieved certification to both the FSC and SFI standards for 200,000 acres of State Forests. State Forests are the only dual-certified forestlands in Ohio. In fall of 2016, the state forest system had its seventh audit with no major or minor non-conformances. Full audit reports are available on the the Division s website.

28 State Forest Timber Sale Program Three types of sales Stumpage Timber Sales competitively bid Merchandised Log Sales competitively bid lots of sorted logs Glatfelter Supply Agreement Sales Vinton Furnace State Forest (Stumpage sales but not competitively bid) Stumpage Sales Last Year: 14 sales advertised totaling 4,254,530 board feet Average bid price was $452 per mbf. Average hardwood sale size is 304 MBF. Bid prospectus sent to over 100 companies. Purchasers are local sawmills and Master Logging Companies FY 2016 Revenue from Stumpage Sales = $3,693, Distribution Formula (DOF 35% of net, costs at ~15%) Local Government Portion = $2,038, DOF Portion (Costs +35%) = $1,654,629.48

31 Merchandised Log Sales 2 Master Logging Companies work for DOF to harvest timber and deliver logs to our location. DOF staff bucks and sorts logs into lots that are competitively bid. DOF also completes some logging jobs with its own employees. In separate sales including 162 separate lots for a total of 1.8 MMBF

32 Merchandised Log Sales ,787,978 board feet sawtimber harvested and marketed. Revenue from Logs - $1,432,806 = $801/MBF Revenue from Pulpwood - $236, $32.81/ton
