5 Quality Assurance / Quality Control Providing sound and legally defensible data is of paramount importance to MBAS. Accuracy and reproducibility are the primary goals of our QA/QC plan. To ensure this, method blanks, laboratory control samples, second source samples, matrix spikes, duplicates, and replicates are analyzed as applicable to each analysis. QC requirements for each analytical technique are clearly outlined in the standard operating procedures and all analysts receive extensive training in these requirements. External audits are routinely conducted by the California ELAP inspectors and internal reviews are frequently held to ensure the quality of our data. Laboratory Facilities MBAS is conveniently located in Monterey, CA. The laboratory has continued to change and grow as we adjust to increasing demand. In addition to the primary sample preparation laboratory and the microbiology room, MBAS has made improvements to include an anion and total organic carbon lab room, a dedicated 8 foot fume hood for solid phase extraction (Oil & Grease analysis), a Total Suspended Solids/Total Dissolved Solids (TSS/TDS) lab room, and additional storage space for shipping and receiving. Major Laboratory Equipment Metals: Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP MS) Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP OES) Inorganic Chemistry: Ion Chromatograph Total Organic Carbon Analyzer UV/Visible Spectrometer Automatic Titrator Information Technology MBAS strives to stay on the forefront of technology. Our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) allows us to do just that. MBAS has greatly invested in updating and maintain this LIMS system so that we may be better able to provide our customers with professional reports the way they need it. This year MBAS has also launched a new website where clients who are interested will be able to set up log in accounts that will give them access to reports, chains of custody, and online bill pay.
