The Ecnmic Develpers Cuncil f Ontari (EDCO) is Canada s largest prvincial ecnmic develpment rganizatin. Fr ver 50 years EDCO has Increased the capacity f thse wh practise ecnmic, industrial, and cmmunity develpment thrugh prfessinal develpment initiatives, infrmatin exchanges amng members and the prmtin f the ecnmic develpment prfessin. It has als been a catalyst fr assisting in the develpment and prmtin f Ontari and its municipalities. The membership f EDCO is cmprised f specialists frm varius disciplines. Each cntributes his r her expertise t the cmplex jb f ecnmic develpment. The Cuncil cnsists f: Municipal, Business and Ecnmic Develpment Prfessinals Municipal, Reginal, Prvincial, Federal Gvernment Officials Land Develpers Educatrs and technlgy assistance develpers and facilitatrs Industrial and Cmmercial Realtrs Turism Industry Representatives Industrial/Cmmercial/Turism Develpment Specialists frm Banks, Public Utilities and Transprtatin Cmpanies EDCO enjys a clse wrking relatinship with the prvincial and federal gvernments as well as links with ther prfessinal assciatins. 2 2 PROJECT BACKGROUND Each year the Ecnmic Develpers Cuncil f Ontari recgnizes excellence in marketing thrugh the Ontari Ecnmic Develpment Awards f Excellence. Crdinated by the EDCO Awards Cmmittee, all Ontari municipalities, develpment crpratins, Chambers f Cmmerce, practitiners f ecnmic develpment, and, turism assciatins/grups are encuraged t submit marketing materials in the fllwing categries (with sub categries): AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE PROMOTIONAL AWARD (FORMERLY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT + TOURISM) This categry recgnizes marketing initiatives created t prmte business develpment in Ontari. Prducts recgnized include: Publicatins (print r electrnic) Advertising Technlgy and new media Branding COLLABORATION & PARTNERSHIP AWARD This categry is designed t recgnize significant partnerships frmed t supprt ecnmic develpment initiatives and results achieved by wrking tgether, including: Public- private partnership Partnership with educatinal institutins Reginalism and crss- brder cllabratin PLANNING AND BUILDING INITIATIVES (FORMERLY PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT) The Planning and Building Initiatives categry recgnizes creative frms f imprving cmmunity s cmpetitiveness. Awards are presented t rganizatins that have develped leading edge and innvative marketing prgrams, r designed and implemented new initiatives r best practices t fster ecnmic grwth in their jurisdictins. This categry includes initiatives related t: Physical infrastructure and redevelpment initiatives Strategic Plans and initiatives (Includes Strategic Plans, Research Reprt/Study, Wrkfrce Develpment, Business Retentin & Expansin, Physician Recruitment) Award winners in each categry are eligible t receive the Lieutenant- Gvernrs Best f Shw Award fr utstanding effrt in ecnmic develpment.

3 3 EDCO LEADERSHIP AWARDS These awards recgnize utstanding leaders in the public and private sectrs wh are advancing ecnmic develpment in their cmmunities. One individual will be presented in each categry. JOSEPH MONTGOMERY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Celebrating ne f the funding members f EDCO, the Jseph Mntgmery Ecnmic Develpment Achievement Award was created in 2010 and is awarded at the discretin f a selectin cmmittee upn receipt f nminatin packages received. The award recgnized innvative cntributins t EDCO and the ecnmic develpment prfessin that g abve and beynd. COMMUNITY INFLUENCER AWARD This award celebrates the excellence f elected fficials and their supprt fr the ecnmic develpment mandate within their cmmunity. Criteria include recgnitin f an rganized ecnmic develpment functin within the cmmunity and their supprt fr ecnmic develpment prgramming. YOUNG INFLUENCER AWARD This award recgnizes utstanding achievement by a yung, emerging leader in the ecnmic develpment prfessin wh demnstrates ntable prfessinal accmplishments t date and shws great future ptential. DIGITAL INFLUENCER AWARD This award recgnizes utstanding achievement by an individual wh excels at advancing their cmmunity thrugh scial media channels. INNOVATIVE COMMUNITY OF THE YEAR Nminatin made by vide submissin and judged by EDCO members. Any member in gd standing may self- nminate r nminate ne r mre candidate(s) fr cnsideratin. The entries detail their significant career achievements t date and the impact f thse achievements n their ecnmic develpment rganizatin and the cmmunity as a whle, and als explain hw they see these achievements cntribute t the advancement f ecnmic develpment as a prfessin. Applicants must be n mre than 35 years f age n the deadline submissin date set by EDCO fr that year s awards cmpetitin in rder t be eligible fr this award and must nte their date f birth n their applicatin. PRESIDENT S AWARD

4 4 PROCESS Each year, the EDCO President may present up t three awards t individuals wh have cntributed abve and beynd the call f duty. Awards are presented at the discretin f the President and n applicatin is necessary. Past winners f this prestigius award have included members wh have demnstrated leadership in a variety f prjects related t EDCO. The Ontari Ecnmic Develpment Awards f Excellence prcess is initiated in early fall with marketing materials being submitted t the EDCO Marketing Awards Cmmittee in early Nvember. Judging takes place in early- Nvember. Winners are annunced at the EDCO Annual Cnference, President s Dinner and Awards Ceremny in early February. AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE MEDIA PRESENTATION The Ontari Ecnmic Develpment Awards f Excellence are presented at the President s Dinner & Awards Ceremny. There are tw cmpnents t the Awards Media Presentatin: Fllwing the President s Dinner, the Awards are annunced and presented t the recipients by the MC and the EDCO President. A themed PwerPint presentatin is played during the Awards annuncements. The PwerPint presentatin includes a creative theme that relates t the award categries, music, embedded vide, images (EDCO can prvide images where needed), the awards categry title and the names f the award recipients and hnrable mentins. The presentatin vide is expected t be apprximately minutes in length t accmmdate breaks between award annuncements, allwing award recipients t g t the stage and accept their award prir t the annuncement f the next award. PROJECT DELIVERABLES AND TIMELINES 1. The develpment f a minimum f three pssible strybards. The strybards will include prpsed themes related t the award categries (cnsideratin shuld als be given t the brader EDCO Annual Cnference theme Ontari s Transfrmatin, Ecnmy by Design, images, and music. 2. A draft versin f the selected PwerPint presentatin and dinner lp will be presented t the EDCO Marketing Awards Cmmittee by January 1, Final input and changes will be prvided[1] by the EDCO Awards Cmmittee t the prpnent by January 15, A final versin f the media presentatin and dinner lp will be prvided in PwerPint frmat n DVD and USB t the EDCO Marketing Awards Cmmittee by January 23, Cntract t be cmpleted by January 25, SKILLS REQUIRED OF THE CONTRACTOR

5 5 The Prject Manager shuld pssess the fllwing skills and demnstrate these within the submitted prpsal: Registered cmpany with a minimum $2 millin liability insurance plicy. Backgrund and educatin f prpsed team members. Dcumented experience in enhanced PwerPint prductin three sample wrks must be submitted with prpsal. Experience in wrking fr cmmittees and awards presentatins invlving similar prjects. PROJECT BUDGET Ttal budget fr this prject is $3,000 which includes prvisin fr incidentals, travel, and meetings, excluding applicable taxes.
