1 Ambassador Programme Manager Full time, permanent post Closing Date: 2pm, Monday 16 th July 2018 Business tourism is big business in Belfast. In the last five years the team at Visit Belfast, the official tourism marketing agency for the Belfast city region, has attracted prestigious conferences and business events to the city bringing 141,000 delegates and generating over 205 million for the economy. We couldn t do this without the Visit Belfast Ambassador Programme, a network of leading academic, medical and business professionals who work in partnership with Visit Belfast to attract conferences and events to the city. Visit Belfast is seeking to recruit an experienced business tourism, or events/sales professional to join the team in the role of Ambassador Programme Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, developing and managing the Visit Belfast Ambassador programme, as well as identifying and developing new business tourism opportunities for the city through the Ambassador network to deliver Visit Belfast s sales targets and KPIs. This is a full time, permanent position. Please refer to the full job description and specification on page 4 for further details of the post. Remuneration The salary range for this position is 26,968 to 36,242 pro rata. The entry point on the salary range for the successful candidate will normally be the minimum of the range. Location This position is based in our corporate office. Visit Belfast s corporate office and the Visit Belfast Welcome Centre (VBWC) are located at 9, Donegall Square North, Belfast, BT1 5GB. Visit Belfast also operates Visitor Information Centres (VICs) at George Best Belfast City Airport (GBBCA), Belfast International Airport (BIA) and pop up information desks off-site, for example, on-board cruise ships and at Belfast Harbour, or during conferences and events. Visit Belfast also has a satellite office in London. Hours of Work Normal hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm. Employees may be required from time to time to work outside normal working hours. 1

2 Annual Leave The leave year runs from 1 January to 31 December. Annual leave entitlement is 25 days per year pro rata, with an additional 11 customary public holidays. After 5 years continual service leave entitlement will increase to 30 days per year. Pensions Visit Belfast is a member of the NI Local Government Officers Superannuation Committee (NILGOSC) pension scheme. 4 VISIT BELFAST JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: DEPARTMENT: REPORTS TO: Ambassador Programme Manager (Permanent, Full time) Business Tourism Department Head of Business Tourism SALARY RANGE: 26,968 to 36,242 PURPOSE: To lead, strategically develop and manage the Visit Belfast Ambassador programme, working with senior academic, medical and business leaders to attract international and national conferences and events to Belfast. To identify and develop new business tourism opportunities for the city through the Ambassador network to deliver Visit Belfast sales targets and KPIs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. To strategically develop mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholder organisations including Universities, Health Trusts, Invest NI, Belfast City Council, Tourism Northern Ireland, Tourism Ireland, professional bodies, business organisations, business networks and internationally active companies based in Belfast. 2. To research and recruit new Belfast Ambassadors who can assist Visit Belfast in bidding to bring business events and conferences to Belfast and Northern Ireland. To generate and develop new business tourism sales leads. 3. To establish and develop strong relationships across Visit Belfast s Ambassador network. 4. To develop and deliver annual marketing, event and engagement plans for the Visit Belfast Ambassador programme in partnership with key stakeholders, within allocated budgets and to meet KPIs and business tourism targets. 5. To maintain and develop the Ambassador database through strategic business tourism and sector focussed research. 6. To research and monitor industry developments, news and investments in Belfast s key economic sectors and areas of research, clinical and academic excellence. 7. To represent Visit Belfast at industry events, networks and forums to promote and continuously develop the Belfast Ambassador programme. 8. To develop Belfast Ambassador marketing collateral, communications and digital content. 9. To develop and deliver a targeted events and engagement programme to support Ambassador recruitment and relationship building. 4

5 OTHER: 10. To deliver senior / board level presentations to stakeholders, current and potential Ambassadors. 11. To develop, manage and monitor the Belfast Ambassador programme budget and service level agreements with funders and stakeholders. 12. To provide regular reporting on Ambassador programme performance, developments and lead generation KPIs. 13. To convert leads into sales through assisting the business tourism department with business development activities including bid strategies and supporting site visits and client meetings and events. 14. To contribute towards business planning, strategy development and delivery of operational plans and targets within the business development department. 15. To undertake other duties as required by the Head of Business Tourism, Director of Business Development and the wider Visit Belfast senior management team. To undertake, when necessary, work outside normal office hours including evenings and weekends. Occasional travel is an essential part of the job. Clean driving licence and access to a car for work purposes is desirable. To carry out all duties with full regard to Visit Belfast equal opportunities and fair employment policies. OR Five years relevant sales/business development experience. Minimum of three years sales/business development experience. Demonstrated ability to deliver targets and KPIs. Experience of developing relationships with leading professionals and business leaders. Event management experience. Experience of budget management. Strong business and academic network. Programme development and management experience. Excellent relationship management and business development skills. Excellent marketing, communication, presentation and negotiating skills. Results orientated individual. Ability to establish and develop relationships at a senior level. Excellent analytical, planning, organisational skills. Report writing skills. Self-starter, energy, drive, enthusiasm and team player. Digital marketing and database skills. Available to work outside normal hours including evenings and weekends as appropriate. Willing to travel as required. Desirable Criteria Qualification in a relevant discipline (i.e. marketing, business or research). Minimum of two years experience in business tourism. Understanding of the association and corporate MICE (meetings, incentive, conference and events) market. Detailed knowledge of Belfast s key economic, research areas and stakeholder organisations. National and international sales/marketing experience. Presentation experience at a senior / Board level. 6
