Short Answer Type Questions: (i) In this answer the examinee is expected to write the environmental framework of industrial relation that is relation at work place are influenced by economic, social, psychological and political forces which provides the framework of industrial relation and that is how the environmental framework is built. (ii) In the scope of collective bargaining the examinee is expected to write the area to which the collective bargaining extends and thus it also involves the subject matter of collective bargaining. (iii) In this answer the examinee can write any two features of trade union which should actually derive the meaning of trade union with the point s headings as well. In this answer the examinee is expected to write any two measures taken for the success of workers participation in management with the points heading and should explain how it helps towards the upliftment of the workers. In this answer the examinee is expected to write any two roles being played by the trade union in management such as: Social adjustments Recruitment and selection of workers Inculcating discipline among the workforce Help in settling of disputes 1

2 The examinee is expected to define social security according to any author which the examinees feels comfortable at as the question says define the social security with the component involved in it. (vii) In this answer the examinee can write any two causes behind the birth of trade union with proper headings for the point and it means how the emergence of trade union did took place. (viii) In this examinee could write that dependent unions are one of the types of trade unions.it is parasitic in nature relying upon the support of the employers or other groups.this type of unions appears in two form company union and union label union. The former union depends upon the employer for its support and does not really represent the interest of the workers in so far as it not opposed to the interest of the management. (ix) In this answer the examinee could write any machinery for the settlement of industrial disputes which could be either by collective bargaining, worker s participation, conciliation, adjudication, arbitration, legislative enactments or with the help of trade union. (x) In this the examinee is expected to write that friendly unions are also one of the forms of trade unions and these are those unions which are essentially idealistic in their approach. They can be trade, class or society conscious. The work for uplifting the morale, intellectual, and social life of the workers. To achieve this goal they make use of political methods such as setting up of cooperative enterprises, profit sharing, mutual insurance etc. 2

In this answer the examinee is expected to start the answer with the introduction of what is industrial relation and then it further talks about various aspects of industrial relation which involves the points such as: (i) Promotion of Healthy labour management relations which would include: Existence of strong, well organized, democratic and responsible trade unions and associations of the employers in the industry. Spirit of collective bargaining. Labour welfare. (ii) Maintenance of industrial peace which would include points such as: Machinery for the prevention and settlement of industrial disputes Provision of bipartite and tripartite forums for the settlement of disputes (iii) Promotion of Industrial Democracy which would include points such as: Establishment of the shop council and joint management council at the shop floor and the plant levels. Recognition of Human Rights in Industry Increase in Productivity. Then the objectives of the industrial relations need to explain which could be: Good Labour management Facilitate in the optimum utilization of resources Checking of industrial conflicts and minimizing the occurrence of strikes and lockouts Minimizing the Labour turnover and abseentism Developing industrial democracy To move further it would include the conclusion for the answer and thus the above points need to be explained with the headings for the points. 3

In this answer the examinee is expected to write the introduction of workers participation in management first and then it would elaborate on the writing the criticism of worker s participation in India. In this answer the examinee would first of all write the definition of social security of any author whichever he feel s and then would elaborate on the characteristics of the social security and it would also involve the components covered under social security. Further the examinee would write the significance of social security which can be as follows: (i) Increase the productivity of industrial workers (ii) Improve health and control the sickness of industrial workers (iii) Prevent occupational diseases and take remedial measures Remove mental and physical hazards to prevent industrial accidents It helps to take care of old age and other consequences resulting therefrom. To ensure that various legislation are implemented properly to achieve the above objectives 5

In this the answer the examinee is expected to write the various approaches of trade union but prior to the approaches the examinee should write the introduction of what is trade union and then further the examinee can write the approaches no such number has been stated so it depend upon the quality and the content of the various approaches being written by the examinee.
