1 THE RED BOOK FIRE & ACOUSTIC DESIGN GUIDE Addendum July 2014 GYPROCK PLASTERBOARD OVERVIEW The CSR Gyprock Red Book contains a wide range of fire and/or acoustic rated wall systems. This addendum details information on the advantages and application of Gyprock Supaceil, a product manufactured using Optimised Core technology. Additionally, this addendum also provides information on Optimised Core technology, which is used in the manufacture of a selection of Gyprock Plasterboards. OPTIMISED CORE TECHNOLOGY Selected Gyprock plasterboards are manufactured with Optimised Core technology. Optimised Core plasterboard has an advanced performance-to-weight ratio, meaning greater breaking strength in a substantially lighter board that continues to exceed the performance requirements of Australian Standard AS2588. The benefits of Optimised Core technology are easier lifting with improved handling and installed performance as well as crisper score and snap. AS2588 PERFORMANCE CRITERIA Sag (humidified deflection) Bending strength Edge hardness Nail pull resistance Bond strength in tension Optimised Core technology has provided the means to reduce board weight while improving breaking strength without compromising performance to Australian standards requirements. GYPROCK Gyprock Supaceil is part of the standard range of premium quality plasterboards and is now manufactured using Optimised Core technology. The plasterboard is a 10mm thick sheet and includes a stronger, thicker face paper which delivers substantial performance benefits. The combination of the new technology and paper means Supaceil is now stronger and lighter with better breaking strength for improved handling and installed performance. Gyprock Supaceil with Optimised Core technology weighs 6.1kg/m 2 (6.5 kg/m 2 in Western Australia). APPLICATION Gyprock Supaceil is specifically designed for use on internal ceiling lining, predominantly in residential applications where no specific fire, acoustic or moisture resistant requirements are specified. This plasterboard contains fibreglass reinforcement for greater strength and sag resistance for 600mm centres. Gyprock Supaceil is not suitable where it would be in contact with water or for environments with a constant relative humidity above 90%.
