1 JOB DETAILS Job Title Organisation Salary Location Worcestershire Netball Development Officer (part time) England Netball 22,200 pro rata per annum office location within Worcestershire Type of Contract Fixed Term 31st March 2018 (likely extension beyond this), Part Time: 17.5 hours per week Job Description You will work closely with the netball membership and partners in the County to develop and deliver the local plan for netball, within the context of the Regional and National Strategic Business Plans and best practice guidelines. As Netball Development Officer you will focus on: developing netball for children and young people; helping clubs gain CAPS accreditation; organising back to netball groups and festivals; and promoting and organising suitable development opportunities for coaches, officials and volunteers. You will also contribute to the planning and organisation of regional events and help share good practice both within your own county and across the region. 2 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Netball Development Officer JOB FAMILY: 2 DIRECTORATE: REPORTING TO: Job Summary: Key Tasks: Development Regional Manager To strategically plan and work with identified partners to promote, organise and lead agreed activity in the County, which increases participation in netball and contributes towards meeting England Netball s vision, mission and goals. Increasing Adult Participation To organise, promote, deliver and monitor EN initiatives to increase adult participation, including Back to Netball (B2N) and Netball Now (NN). To develop and sign post B2N and NN participants to relevant exit routes including B2N festivals, leagues and clubs. To lead agreed Netball Now sessions. To coach agreed B2N and Further Education (college) sessions. To engage with and guide identified Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) institutes to implement EN s offer. Children and Young People To work with local partners to plan and support the delivery of national interventions and programmes including High 5, Premier League For Sport, School Games (Level 3 event) and volunteering/leadership initiatives. To identify priority clubs which will include CAPS clubs, offering regular support to help the clubs develop, maintain their accreditation and increase participation and opportunities to netballers. To work with schools, clubs and community groups to develop new junior clubs, junior sections and satellite clubs to increase the number of young people participating in netball. To organise and coach and/or umpire agreed holiday camps. Commercial and Marketing To promote EN programmes, courses and products. To promote EN affiliation packages and increase the number of affiliated members. 2

3 To meet programme income targets, following the EN financial handling guidelines, being responsible for collecting and banking agreed EN local programme income. Strategic Working With Volunteers and Partners To work in partnership with the County Chair, County Netball Association and identified partners to deliver and monitor the County plan. To use the Menu of Opportunities audit and County Plan to strategically identify which areas, partners and programmes to prioritise and work with. To work and communicate with agreed key partners including the County Sports Partnership, key facility providers such as Leisure Trusts, priority Local Authorities, Further Education Sports Makers and EN approved commercial partners. To work with priority facility development projects to identify potential netball usage, access funding and ensure developments meet the needs of the local area. To access local funding support and signpost potential clubs, coaches, officials and volunteers to relevant schemes. General To support research, promotion and development of products linked to the participant centred approach. To respond to enquiries. To be a DBS evidence checker and trainer. To carry out agreed County or Regional specific projects as appropriate. 4 Person Specification Description Skills/Abilities/ Knowledge Knowledge of the sporting landscape and/or knowledge of current EN initiatives and programmes Knowledge and experience of building partnerships and working with multiple organisations to achieve goals (D) Knowledge and experience of working with volunteers and/or voluntary groups (D) Knowledge and understanding of the importance of health and safety issues in event/activity planning Experience of achieving targets with limited resources and tight timescales Confident presentation skills and the ability to engage with an audience Understanding and commitment to safeguarding, equality and welfare in Sport Understanding of promotional techniques (D) Education/ Sports Related degree or equivalent (D) Qualification A minimum of 5 GCSEs including grades A to C in English and Maths Netball Coaching UKCC Qualification Level 2 or above or the willingness to complete a course within the first 6 months of appointment Netball C Award umpiring qualification (D) Where a Netball qualification is not held, Coaching qualifications in other sports is desirable (D) IT Skills IT literate, able to use the basic tools in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint Experience At least one years experience of coordinating and implementing sports or community development programmes in a paid or voluntary capacity Experience developing sport at a County level (D) At least 50 hours practical coaching experience (D) Attributes Excellent organisation, time management prioritisation skills Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to clearly, concisely and diplomatically communicate with different audiences using the most appropriate means Ability to positively engage and influence a variety of partners Ability to work as part of a team Ability to motivate yourself and others Awareness of England Netball organisational structures (D) Ability to react positively to change Ability to work on own initiative to make good decisions Accuracy and attention to detail Appreciation of the importance and ability to follow policy and procedure Positive attitude General Access to vehicle for work purposes 4
