1 Job Description The Job Description Form should be used for all roles within The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC). This form should be completed by Head of the Department or Human Resources. Job Title: Apprentice Trainer Grade: Admin 1 Duration of Contract: Permanent Department/Theme: The MTC AMTC Location: The Manufacturing Technology Centre Ltd., Ansty Park, Coventry, CV7 9JU. Reporting To: Programme Manager Job Purpose: AMTC's vision to develop a training capability that embeds adaptable skills, knowledge and behaviours that future proof UK manufacturing. Aligning technical content identified in MTC's core business to our apprenticeship and commercial (engineer upskilling) is at the core of our strategy. The Apprentice Trainer role is required to train cohorts of apprentices with the fundamentals of our Foundation Competency Level 2 or Development Knowledge Level 3 units. These can range from Health and Safety, Working Efficiency, BIT, Fluid Power, Milling and Turning, Industrial Robots, Mechanical and Electrical Assembly, CAD, PLC s, Measurement and Inspection to name a few. Our 3 core areas Advanced Machining, Intelligent Automation and Metrology work towards the completion of the Product Design and Development Level 3 Apprenticeship programme. 977 JD General Trainer AMTC (V1.0) Page 1 of 5

2 Duties & Responsibilities: The role will focus on the following responsibilities: Delivery of high-quality and engaging training for a number of units to Apprentices through the standard (L3 Product Design and Development) Learning content creation and development of apprenticeship schemes-of-work. Identifying and coordinating the integration of relevant existing training offers from industry partners into the apprenticeship scheme of work Liaising with MTC personnel, including but not limited to Engineering Technicians and Research Engineers to ensure the Apprenticeship programme continues to meets the MTC's vision whilst ensuring synergies are realised Monitoring of learning environment, learner workplace Health, Safety and welfare Ensuring the progress of the whole caseload of Learners towards all components is synonymous with timely achievement by carrying out regular reviews. The completion of an Assessor Qualification to support workplace assessments as required. Essential Competences: Current Technical competence within Advanced Machining, Intelligent Automation or Metrology environment. IT literate including LMS and generic Microsoft Office packages including Word, PowerPoint and MS Outlook A good standard of written and verbal communication Focused on delivering objectives and targets Problem solving and decision making skills Ability to be creative in thought processes and delivery Keeping up to date with all the latest industry information Being aware of all changes in the legislation and apprenticeship standards Keeping up to date with all changes that occur in regards to Awarding Organisations To be prepared to attend any course that will enhance work related skills Carry out regular performance development reviews with identified apprentices Plan, design and delivery of engineering training programmes Ensure that safe working practices are maintained at all times 977 JD General Trainer AMTC (V1.0) Page 2 of 5

3 Evidence of lean practices and training delivery Career development, coaching and counselling Qualifications: Industry related qualifications such as HND, or NVQ's - essential Functional Skills Level 2 / GCSE's in Maths and English grade C or above - essential CAVA or equivalent assessor qualifications - Recognised Training/Teaching Qualification - Internal Quality Assurance qualifications IOSH Managing Safely Personal Qualities: Self-starter, able to work on own initiative Determination to succeed and passion about the subject area Highly articulate, highly presentable excellent written and oral communication skills Confidence to give presentations to a wide variety of audiences Team player Able to travel throughout the UK, occasionally overseas if required Full Driving licence required Self-motivated regarding their Continual Professional Development Have a clear DBS check in the past 2 years Desirable Experience: Delivering training solutions to the wider engineering sector (employer funded programmes / placements) Experience of operating within R&D and HVM Operating with external stakeholder groups (Academic I Industrial etc.) Familiarisation with LMS or VLE learning environments 977 JD General Trainer AMTC (V1.0) Page 3 of 5
