1 SECTION EXHAUST FANS PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 DESCRIPTION A. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, accessories and all incidentals required to install wet well and control building ventilation systems as shown on the construction plans and specified here in REFERENCED STANDARDS A. NEMA MG 1 Motors and Generator. B. UL 705 Power Ventilators. C. Suffolk County Department of Public Works Standards. D. Suffolk County Department of Health Service Standards. E. Ten State Standards SUBMITTALS A. Submittals shall be in accordance with Division 1 - Section B. Product Data: Submit data on all fans and accessories including fan curves with specified operating points, power requirements, RPM, electrical characteristics and connection requirements. C. Shop Drawings: Submit 8 copies of shop drawings for approval indicate size, configuration, mountings, weights, ductwork and accessory connections

2 1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacturing products specified in this Section with a minimum of 5 years of experience manufacturing ventilation equipment DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Delivery, storage and handling shall be in accordance with Division 1 - Section B. Deliver materials and products in protective packages. Store and handle in strict compliance with manufacturer s instructions and protect from damage from weather and construction operations. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 WET WELL VENTILATION SYSTEM A. General The contractor shall install a complete operational wet well ventilation system including a top slab mounted intake supply air fan, circular exhaust air vent with discharge cap and automatic limit switches on hatches to activate the supply air system upon opening any wet well hatch. Also to be provided is manual override switch to start and stop the fan irrespective of the position of any hatch cover. B. System Capacity 1. The system capacity shall be as required to insure a minimum air change of thirty (3) air changes per hour. The required capacity shall be as shown on the Contract Drawings at a static pressure of WG

3 2. The exhaust vent shall be constructed of schedule 80 PVC piping. Unless otherwise shown on the construction plans the vent shall be a minimum diameter of 8. It shall be fitted with an 8 diameter gooseneck connection a minimum of 12 above the wet well top slab. The vent shall be fully supported by the top slab and anchors into the wet well wall at a minimum spacing of 4 on center. 3. The supply air fan unless otherwise specified on the contract drawings shall be Marc Climatic Controls, Model MSFX061-11S 2.02 CONTROL BUILDING (CONTROL ROOM AND GENERATOR ROOM) VENTILATION SYSTEMS A. General The contractor shall install a complete operational control building ventilation system including a wall mounted exhaust fan and intake louver (specified under Division 10). The system is to operate both manually and automatically from either wall switches or from wall mounted reverse acing thermostats. B. System Capacities 1. The system required capacity shall be as shown on the Contract Drawings at a static pressure of 0.25 WG. 2. Exhaust fans shall be as manufactured by Greenheck. Unless otherwise specified on the contract drawings the Control Room and Generator Room exhaust fans shall be Model Number SP-10, 200 CFM at 0.25 WG. The intake louvers shall be Greenheck model EAC-401 of a size and capacity as listed on the construction plans. C. Performance Ratings: Conform to AMCA 210 and bear the AMCA Certified Rating Seal

4 D. Rating: AMCA 30, tested to AMCA 300 and bear the AMCA Certified Rating Seal. E. Fabrication: Conform to AMCA Shall be centrifugal direct drive type design. 2. Fan wheel shall be a centrifugal backwards inclined and constructed of aluminum and should include a wheel cone carefully matched to the inlet cone for precise running tolerances. 3. Wheels shall be statically and dynamically balanced. 4. The fan housing shall be constructed of heavy gauge aluminum with a rigid internal support structure and shall include a wheel cone carefully matched to the inlet cone for precise funning tolerances. 5. The fan shroud shall have a rolled bead for added strength. 6. Motors shall be mounted out of the air stream on vibration isolator. 7. Motors shall be readily accessible for maintenance. 8. All fans shall bear the AMCA Certified Rating Seals for sound and air performance. 9. Each fan shall bear a permanently affixed manufacturer s nameplate containing the model number and individual serial number for future identification. 10. Motor shall be heavy duty ball bearing type, carefully matched to the fan load and furnished at the specified voltage, phase and enclosure

5 11. Motors and drives shall be mounted on vibration isolators, out of the airstream. 12. Motors shall be readily accessible for maintenance. F. Accessories 1. Were specified the contractor shall provided required curbs. 2. Damper: exhaust damper constructed of 18 gauge galvanized steel Damper blades shall be constructed of in. roll formed aluminum with vinyl seals on the closing edge, 3. Bird and Insect Screens: Were shown or required constructed of stainless steel hardwire cloth. 4. Belts: Grip notch type. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLATION A. Installation shall be in compliance with manufacturer s installation instructions. And the requirements of the NEC. a. ADJUSTING AND CLEANING A. After installation the system shall be tested for proper operation and adjust as necessary. B. Provide all required supports and electrical conduits and wiring and wiring devices. C. Touch-up damaged coatings and finishes and repair minor damage. Clean exposed surfaces using non-abrasive materials and methods recommended by the manufacturer. END OF SECTION
