It mimics the look and simple shadow lines of fresh painted wood plank. STYLE NOTES Narrower profiles like our 4-inch and 5-inch options could be used on smaller homes to add a sense of scale or richer texture. Wider profiles like the 8-inch panel may help large homes feel less imposing. Add character and visual interest by combining siding options. Consider using the wide 8-inch profile on your ground floor and a narrower, 4 or 5-inch profile on the second floor. 6 7

The planks could then be installed flat against the home, while still creating distinctive shadow lines. Board and Batten profiles mimic the time-honored style of siding a home with wide vertical boards and then hiding the seams with narrow battens. The vertical lines of Board and Batten siding can create a unique look and can make a home appear to stand a little taller. STYLE NOTES For clearly defined shadow lines, consider Dutch Lap. While traditional lapping casts softer shadow lines, the carved notch along the top of Dutch Lap panels creates more distinctive and defined shadows.
