1 Title: Code Enforcement fficial/building Inspector SLA Status: on-exempt BIE DESCIPTI: The purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with City codes and ordinances, coordinate the abatement of violations, enforce building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical codes, review plans, approve permits and provide on-site inspections. ther duties include the flood plain administration, Planning and Zoning Commission meetings, filing alcohol beverage and building permit information to the appropriate State and County agencies. Also, the position is responsible for greeting visitors and answering telephones. JB DESCIPTI: Performs technical building inspections and plan reviews to enforce compliance with Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical codes for new and existing residential and commercial construction. Provide enforcement of all state and local building codes. Enforces compliance with local ordinances and administer programs concerning demolition of dilapidated/dangerous structures and overgrown lots. Issue all types of building related permits. Attend Planning & Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment meetings. Provide technical information to the Planning & Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment as required. Assist insurance agents, ealtors and others regarding the lood Plain Insurance Program. Enforce abandoned vehicle ordinance. Investigate concerns from citizens regarding safety standards and code violations. Maintain availability to the public for information concerning City ordinance requirements. Serve as lood Plain Manager Examine and approve contactor licenses. Maintain liaison with area and state officials in areas of responsibility. Make recommendation concerning the requests for various types of variances. Attend City Council meeting, as requested. Perform other duties and functions as assigned.
