2 Nurse s room Entrance Recovery room Locker room Staff lounge Storeroom Operating theatre Corridor Sterilisation unit An off-site prefabricated system for operating theatres and critical care facilities The bene ts of off-site construction Off-site construction is a very effective building method, and an alternative to traditional techniques, especially when the environmental conditions and customer s needs are highly elaborate and complex. The goals of off-site prefabricated systems include: - cost containment - usage exibility - structural modularity Off-site construction is a building system based on the serial industrial production of individual modules to be assembled directly on site. MedicalLab System was the first to propose a total off-site prefabricated system for critical care facilities in the health care sector, including, in particular, operating blocks, intensive care, emergency departments and radiological facilities. The environment and structure of these facilities are required to evolve in accordance with the continuous development of surgical and medical care techniques. The use of modular steel partitions makes it possible to attain excellent results in a very short time, while also meeting all of the requirements in terms of nishes and the selection of materials used. DESIGN The planning and design of operating blocks is carried out entirely by our company s design department in close cooperation with our customers. This makes it possible to obtain an extremely accurate and detailed executive plan. CONSTRUCTION All of the elements are built at our production plant with millimetric precision, without the need of modi cations to be carried out on site. INSTALLATION Neat installation systems and procedures minimise dirt and noise, thus making it possible to accurately manage the installation schedule and permitting the simultaneous performance of several activities. MAINTENANCE Services installed within the partition are easy to maintain since they are accessible by simply removing the panels on one side of the partition while the room on the other side is still operative. 2 - MEDICAL LAB SYSTEM MEDICAL LAB SYSTEM - 3

Fastening A patented slide-in fastenin person to remove and insta easily. The specially shaped centering, thus preventing typical of traditional system tightness of the seals. Free-standing The steel support structure is not fastened to the ceiling and is free-standing, thus simplifying the installation of services above the ceiling. 4 Air Intake Modules Air intake is obtained by using special single-unit modules inclined at 135 angle with respect to the walls. Two types are available: - With a full-height collection tank made of stainless steel. The tank is covered by a removable panel that can be placed at different heights so as to regulate the intake air capacity between the top and bottom vents. This solution makes effective cleaning and sanitation easier, since it decreases the number of interspaces and gaps which would be difficult to reach. The intake air module s surface finishes are the same as those used in the wall panels. - With removable aluminium grills complete with an air control louver. Module with full-height tank, readily serviceable Technical Modules SERVICES Sockets and connections to the power and gas supply systems, as well as the control panels, are placed in the wall at the correct height from the floor according to the pertinent regulations. Thanks to the off-site prefabricated system, they are readily serviceable in an easy and fast manner. GAS AND POWER SUPPLY MODULES All technical services required in the operating theatre can be implemented in the Interiors 4healthcare Walls by means of special modular panels designed to make installation, usage, maintenance and effective cleaning easier. They derive from appropriately shaped box-type profiles securely fastened to the structure by means of screws. All seals are flush, as they are covered by special coloured frames which make them easy to clean, and univocally identify the different units. For the gas supply, a sturdy fastening system has been developed which further strengthens both panel and frame. 2 Technical module Gas supply panel Simple air intake module, with grill 1 Technical module Electrical board Technical module Room control board Technical module Clock panel 1 intake module with a stainless steel tank. 2 - technical modules 6 - MEDICAL LAB SYSTEM MEDICAL LAB SYSTEM - 7

5 Different solutions are available with regard to the surface finish used in the Interiors 4healthcare Wall system: STO, ARO and ANTIBACTERIAL. - STO: painted steel. A special painting technique makes objects especially resistant. It is mainly used in the service rooms near the operating theatre, such as locker rooms, storerooms and corridors. - ARO: colaminated painted steel. The material is covered with polyurethane paint and then colaminated with a PET film, which ensures chemical inertness and makes it easy to clean. It is used in the operating theatre and the most important areas of the operating block. - ANTIBACTERIAL: colaminated steel obtained through hot processing and a polymer film charged with silver ions. The natural action of these agents inhibits the growth of germs and eliminates those possibly already present. Glazed Modules Glazed modules comprise a double flush supporting frame made of extruded aluminium (either anodised or finished with polyester paint) and laminated clear safety glass that is 3+3 mm thick. Frames are connected to the posts using the same rack locking system found in the solid panels, and they make it possible to fit adjustable Venetian blinds or films to obtain colour effects and enhance the humanisation of the environment. A glazed module used on one side of the wall can accommodate concealed LCD or plasma medical monitors, useful to view diagnostic images from the room signal integration system in the room or the PACS module. Glazed modules are available in full or half height and can be installed both horizontally and vertically, depending on the technical specifications. 7 The automatic devices ensure either closing on the three sides or a closing movement combined with lowering to make the room airtight. The motor s electronic components can be managed via a programmable control board. The set is complete with two safety photocell units, elbow-operated buttons and back-up batteries.

10 COUNTLESS CUSTOMISED SOLUTIONS 2 3 In addition to ensuring maximum flexibility inside critical area facilities, the prefabricated Medical Lab System system has also been designed to attain the highest possible quality standards in terms of aesthetics and comfort. This is the reason why customisation programs have been arranged, to enrich space and thus offer new experiences to users. The solid and glazed panels can be silkscreened based on customised digital prints or art specifically chosen to give rooms a warm contemporary feeling. This makes the environment more comfortable for both healthcare professionals and patients alike. Another interesting option results from the use of LED backlight glazed modules of changing colours which make it possible to customise, with countless hues, the walls of the rooms both inside and outside the operating theatre Recovery area 2 - Column cladding (detail) 3 - Off-site construction washrooms built using the Medical Lab system 4 - Staff lounge with Medical Lab System prefabricated melamine finished walls 18 - MEDICAL LAB SYSTEM MEDICAL LAB SYSTEM - 19
