15 Performance reporting in a Waste-to-Energy power plant Challenges End of the month is critical and time consuming to collect all process and chemical information from production One week s work is needed to collect all the necessary data, enter it in excel, and send it to authorities Data has been collected manually by operators and sent via to the environmental engineer Data must have been validated and calculated Target Collect all relevant information, simplify the sending and presenting it to the authorities Results Key Performance Indicators for WtE power plant management - amount of burned waste and follow up, emissions, consumption of chemicals, own electricity usage Time saving in reporting to environmental authorities Case: Tampere Power Utilities, Tammervoima Every month it took five days to collect information from separate plants to compile environmental reports for the authorities, Laura Laaksonen October 2018 Valmet Customer Days 2018

17 Valmet Performance Services & Combustion Optimization Results for Kuopion Energia Oy, CHP plant Plant Manager Dashboard Results Increased maximum steam production by Share of biomass used as fuel Performance Limits 5% 100% Design Target An alarm is activated based on detected process deviations. Taskspecified dashboards are then used to find the limiting factor in the machinery in real time. A specified machine is analyzed based on collected data. CHP plant, Haapaniemi 3 power plant - Two boilers in use, three turbines - Main fuels: locally produced peat & wood residues performance agreement goal was to increase steam production from 62 kg/s to 65 kg/s. Before control optimization, the boiler design value was not easy to increase. In co-operation with Valmet 65 kg/s was gained and even 66 kg/s has been achieved with a good fuel mix in optimum conditions.
