1 VIGIL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM OVERVIEW Version 2.4

2 VIGIL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM OVERVIEW Vigil is a technology development company, supplying innovative wireless solutions for managing risk and protecting people and securing assets. Headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia, Vigil is built on a collaborative approach bringing together industry experts in security, safety, and engineering. The Vigil Management System (VMS) is a safety and security platform that can be quickly deployed in various environments, including remote and off the grid sites where no electrical infrastructure exists. The VMS enables real-time management and monitoring of sites, personnel, equipment, and environmental conditions across challenging geographic terrain, even in harsh conditions. Vigil devices utilize a self-healing, wireless mesh network for reliability, or alternatively, cellular connectivity for stand-alone applications. The system helps mitigate risks, minimize losses, and improve human safety while reducing cost, and increasing situational awareness and operational efficiency. Enhanced Site Security Human Safety Real Time Situational Awareness Intelligent Intrusion Detection Perimeter security Smart PTZ Camera Integration Man-Down Detection Personal Notifications Evacuation Management Accountability Environmental Monitoring Emergency Location Tracking The VMS was developed for industrial organizations that need to meet increasing regulatory and liability requirements while reducing costs and enhancing value. Our solution is an economical site monitoring system that facilitates user and organizational compliance as well as an excellent ROI. Unlike traditional gate and guard solutions, the VMS is ideally suited to the current and evolving workplace demands to manage risk cost-effectively. Version 2.4 Page 2 of 6

3 VIGIL INNOVATION The system supports monitoring of a large number of geographically dispersed sites. Sites can be set up in harsh environmental conditions, and can span both outdoor and indoor areas, including underground tunnels. Vigil Access Point (VAP) devices can communicate with the Vigil System Server (VSS) via Vigil Gateway (VGW) devices either directly or through other VAP devices (multi-hop communications). Practically unlimited site coverage can be achieved by adding additional VAP devices and VGW Devices. The VAP and VGW devices form a self-healing mesh network, i.e. when one device in the network fails, the system automatically reconfigures itself to re-route messages using the remaining devices in the mesh network. This enhances communication reliability significantly as compared to wired or non-mesh wireless systems. 4 With all server applications packaged into an easy to deploy Virtual Machine, the Vigil System Server (VSS) can be easily deployed on a private or public cloud, either locally or remotely. This minimizes client IT services overhead required. Since Vigil custom designs all the major components of the system from the device hardware and software to server applications, and the user interface, it is able to offer a very closely integrated solution and enhanced user experience working with the system, leading to improved efficiency and cost reductions. The Vigil Management Interface (VMI), an easy to use GUI, runs on any modern browser - on various platforms including desktops, tablets, and smart-phone devices. Full-time resources do not need to be dedicated to monitoring the VMI as selected system events can be notified to one or more users via or SMS. Vigil s smart PTZ camera integration with its intrusion detection and perimeter security application enables more effective site security by replacing dozens of video camera feeds with a single event-triggered and relevant camera feed. To enhance the value of the system, Vigil s VAP and VPD devices support over-the-air software updates so that the latest enhancements can be effortlessly deployed site-wide just by a single click from the VMI. With integrated support for Vigil Personal Devices (VPD), clients can effectively add personal emergency notifications, panic alerts, and localization of employees to assist emergency responders in case of an emergency, as well as to meet accountability requirements. The VMS system helps clients meet regulatory compliance requirements for employee safety. SALES@VIGILTECHNOLOGIES.COM Version 2.4 Page 4 of 6

5 SYSTEM FEATURES Wireless mesh network architecture used to interconnect devices helps significantly extend the size and reliability of the system in difficult and rugged environments, including underground tunnels and in buildings containing high levels of radio interference. Stationary Vigil Access Points (VAPs) communicate with the Vigil Gateway (VGW) either directly or through other devices. The system may contain hundreds of sites and thousands of devices all controlled and monitored from a single or multiple Vigil Management Interfaces (VMIs). The sites are connected to a server through a wired Ethernet or cellular connection. The server hosts a database aggregating all system information, user data, access rights, and system events. The system provides emergency mass notification and evacuation management for users, sites, and work zones. Additional features include: evacuation route signalization, accountability reporting, environmental monitoring, site security, and perimeter protection. A unique localization method that allows precise extraction of the most meaningful components of one s location in a reliable and efficient way. Vigil Personal Devices (VPDs) are devices used to identify people and assets in the VMS, as well as for monitoring accountability and location tracking. VPDs are equipped with a variety of sensors enabling data collection and alarm generation such as duress, man down, and fall detection. The VMS can be deployed in various environments including remote sites and off the grid locations where no electrical infrastructure exists. The platform can be rapidly deployed with minimal prior planning or engineering and is ideally suited for temporary or portable sites. Client data management and reporting provides site monitoring, time on site data collection, asset monitoring, and incident management. This information can be used for security and safety regulatory compliance. The VMS is a cost-effective, single box/multi-functional platform that provides high user and organizational safety compliance while providing a solid ROI. Version 2.4 Page 5 of 6
