3 General The purpose and basic function of The purpose of the is to provide the ultimate consignee of the goods with detailed information relating to the actual contents of a shipment sent by a consignor. The message is based upon the definition of a shipment as a specified amount of goods sent by a specified consignor to a specified consignee on a specific occasion. Volvo Car Corporation - VCC are using the following format: EDIFACT D96A The message gives the following information: To state the actual time for shipment. To provide specific information concerning transportation. To specify the actual packages and handling units in the shipment. To specify the contents of the shipment. To provide the necessary documentation for customs clearance. Creation of a A shall state the actual contents of a shipment. Notification must therefore not be made until the actual loading procedure is completed and no later than one hour after the goods have been shipped! All articles which are delivered to the same place of discharge and has the same delivery occasion shall be specified in the same. 4 Implementation remarks Document number (BGM 1004) This value is central in VCC s ERP order system. This number is used as key in other EDI documents e.g ORDERS, ORDRSP. All EDI message for a corresponding order shall have the same document number (referred to as production number in VCC s application) in segment BGM. Transport document number ( RFF C506/1153 Reference qualifier = AAS ) Reference assigned by the supplier. Required only if the supplier wants to use self-billing and use his own reference number. To be used only after agreement with VOLVO. Consignee (NAD 3035 code = CN) The ID for a dealer is a combination of: District number + Dealer number digits. (for example: ). Line number (LIN 1082) VCC s order line number. The line should be referenced with correct line number from the corresponding ORDERS document. Despatched quantity (QTY 6060) Quantity may never be zero. 4
