POSITION DETAILS 3.1 Position Context Led by the Program Manager, the coordinator will be collaborative and dynamic in providing operational leadership and actively contribute to strategy and service development for this program area. This role also contributes to the development and leadership of the broader area of Primary and Mental Health. The Coordinator, working as part of a management team will focus on ensuring excellent service delivery, leadership, supervision and support of staff in the newly formed Assertive Outreach Team, however the programs are existing ISCH programs. Experience and/or training in trauma-informed service delivery will be well regarded. The Assertive Outreach Program includes the: AOD outreach counselling; Assertive outreach mental health support to people who experience barriers in accessing mainstream AOD and/or mental health services and; Mobile Health Outreach Service team providing clean injecting equipment, safer sex supplies, health information and referrals to other services to drug users at home, on the street, and in public or community venues. 3.1 Position Objectives and responsibilities The Coordinator is accountable for the leadership and operational oversight of their team and as part of the management team within their program portfolio, contributes to the strategic development and leadership of the broader program area. The Coordinator is responsible for approximately 10 EFT. Coordinators have individual and collective responsibility to actively engage in building a strong, effective and resilient organisational culture. Their focus is primarily on the development of clinically strong and responsive teams that provide excellent direct service delivery. This will be achieved through: Participation in management forums within programs Team leadership and management Implementing and monitoring the application of human resource management policies and systems including individual and team work plans Management of individual and team performance Facilitating the resolution of conflict in teams within the organisational framework Coordinating the application of administrative systems and policies Leading case reviews/practice review activities in teams Ensuring the maintenance of client records Clinical and student supervision Facilitating and participating in all quality assurance and improvement activities Facilitating and managing multidisciplinary practice reviews in and between teams This position will have primary responsibility for the preparation of AOD reporting to Inner South Community Health Service Page 2 of 6

3 Position Description funders, as well as involvement in the preparation of tenders and submissions Actively contributing to site management activities and the development of a positive site culture Participation in organisational committees and working groups Undertaking staff selection and orientation, including the monitoring of the staff probationary period Liaising and working with external service providers as directed by the Program Manager. Coordinating and implementing team and cross program projects. Contributing to the development and review of Individual Performance Plans (through active participation in the annual ISCH Planning process) and communicate with the Program Manager about issues affecting individual and team performance that may impact on clients and service delivery. Perform specific line-management duties including leave approvals, and monitoring of targets and statistical reports Professional Development To attend and contribute to staff development and supervision programs, and to attend relevant courses and mandatory in-house training when appropriate and to participate in peer review/practice review. Occupational Health & Safety Ensure that work and services are provided in a safe manner at all times by regularly reviewing practices and environment and by participating in OH&S training where required. Health Promotion Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of organisational Health Promotion strategies as identified in the Health Promotion Plan; and undertake health promotion training as required. Performance Management Framework Actively participate in an annual individual performance plan, which determines key responsibilities, strategies and performance indicates in line with the organisation s Strategic Plan and Program Business Plan. Reporting Relationships The Coordinator reports directly to the Program Manager Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug The position manages/supervises approximately 10 EFT. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA (Must be submitted with your Application) Relevant tertiary qualifications such as Social Work, Psychology or Counselling and Core AOD Competencies (or preparedness to undertake these). Demonstrated skills and experience in the provision of assessment, counselling, therapeutic approaches and treatment planning for people with AOD and/or mental health related issues (dual diagnosis). Extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary teams who work with vulnerable and often margenalised client groups Experience working in assertive outreach models, with particular skills in clinical risk management High levels of emotional intelligence Management and supervisory experience including well developed clinical supervision skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (including high level written skills) Demonstrated ability to meet the ISCH behavioural competencies as defined in the position description The ability to contribute to ensuring good clinical governance through an understanding of effective risk management strategies and frameworks for improving clinical effectiveness. Desirable Ability to speak a relevant community language other than English A current Victorian Driver s Licence Generic Competencies to be demonstrated in the role Strategic Decision Making: Identifying what needs to happen to achieve long-range goals or vision; developing actions congruent with organizational goals, available resources and environmental opportunities/risks. Behavioural Flexibility: The capacity to make decisions in sometimes ambiguous circumstances and to lead the change process within the team and across ISCHS. 5 Action Management: Ensure the timely delivery of services and programs, and prioritise issues based on their importance and urgency. Organize activities to optimize client outcomes and build contingency plans into strategies for action. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Award: Salary Level: Hours Per Week: Duration: Probationary Period: Location: Social Worker SCHADS Modern Award Social Work SCHADS Level 7 above award, conditions dependent on qualifications 38 hours or 40 hours a week with an Accrued Day Off Permanent In accordance with our usual practice, there will be a probationary period of three months, during which time a review process will be undertaken. At the expiration of the probationary period, employment may be confirmed as an ongoing employee, employment may be terminated or the probationary period may be extended up to a maximum of 6 months with further review. During the probationary period either party can terminate for any reason. Mitford St, St Kilda From time to time the incumbent may be requested to work from or be based at other ISCHS centres. Salary Packaging Information: Salary packaging is a legitimate method of restructuring existing salary into a combination of salary and expense payment benefits in order to provide a higher net remuneration for the employee. This offer applies while Inner South Community Health Service continues to be granted "public benevolent institution" status and enjoys exemption from the provisions of the Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT). Should our status change salary packaging will no longer be available. We offer 3 types of Salary Packaging:- o Standard tax free salary packaging amount $15,900 [per annum o Meal Entertainment Expenses $12,000 per annum o Entertainment Facility Leasing Expenses - no threshold per annum It is not compulsory for employees to take up the offer to package their salary; however the benefits from packaging are considerable.
