1 JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Reports To: Lead Resilience Team Leader Locality Manager Drink Wise, Age Well and Royal Voluntary Service Operations Grade /Salary: M4 10 Band 22,838-26,390 Demonstration Area: Devon County Project details: Funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund, Drink Wise, Age Well aims to help people aged over 50 make healthier choices about their alcohol use as they age. Led by Addaction, there are 18 strategic and delivery partners UK wide including Royal Voluntary Service, ILC-UK, University of Bedfordshire, Drug and Alcohol Charities Wales and Addiction NI. Five demonstration areas have been identified across the four UK nations to deliver the programme via an integrated, community-based intervention programme. Addaction has overall accountability and management responsibility for the portfolio of delivery projects within the five demonstration areas, with each partner being allocated a lead role in operational management and stakeholder involvement at a local level. Key areas of delivery in each demonstration area are: -Prevention and campaigning -Skills development and training -Increasing resilience -Direct Engagement and Support The Increasing Resilience work stream focuses on adults aged over 50 experiencing life transitions e.g. retirement or bereavement, who may be at risk of increased alcohol use as a responsive coping strategy. Resilience interventions will be delivered that develop and improve coping strategies, social networks and facilitate participation in a range of activities that enhance wellbeing. Through a network of volunteers and peer mentors the team delivers community workshops, befriending programmes and social and skills development activities. The team leader will be responsible for the day to day operational management of the Resilience Team, supporting our volunteers and staff, and co-ordinating the development and delivery of activities and programmes in the community.

2 Role Purpose: To support the Locality Manger in the delivery of the integrated Drink Wise, Age Well Programme. To co-ordinate and deliver the Resilience Work stream throughout the demonstration area. To positively promote, internally and externally, the Drink Wise, Age Well Programme and Partnership. To communicate Royal Voluntary Service and Addaction s vision to help deliver its mission, corporate strategy and business plans. Key Duties and Responsibilities: 1. To support the Locality Manager in the delivery and development of the Drink Wise, Age Well programme, deputising for the Manager where required, and to ensure the implementation of the agreed funding outcomes. 2. To assist the Locality Manager and other team leaders in the implementation of the Drink Wise, Age Well programme across the demonstration area ensuring standards and policies are adhered to. 3. To plan and deliver the Resilience work stream in the community liaising with volunteers and peers, employers, partner agencies, stakeholders and other Drink Wise, Age Well integrated delivery teams. 4. To coordinate and plan the resilience work stream in the community through the delivery of a series of workshops and a structured evidence based group programme Live Wise, Age Well, delivered by resilience staff and volunteers. 5. To engage with employers to deliver the Live Wise, Age Well group programme to staff approaching retirement in a community setting 6. To co-ordinate and plan in collaboration with volunteers a befriending programme in the community, which provides support to individuals experiencing difficult life transitions. 7. To co-ordinate and plan in collaboration with volunteers a social activity and skills development programme in the community. 8. To ensure effective and timely recording of all programme delivery data in accordance with Data Protection and Addaction policy ensuring the integrity of information provided to our funders and evaluators. 9. To be responsible for data quality within the resilience work stream, particularly the recording of demographic information, resilience interventions received and outcomes, ensuring recording systems, both manual and electronic are maintained and kept up to date. 10. To provide quarterly reports incorporating both quantitative and qualitative data, to the Locality Manager for collation into a wider programme report. 11. To provide supervision, performance review and management support to team members, including peer mentors and volunteers, to ensure that organisational standards are maintained and that appropriate, evidence based practice is followed. 12. To ensure and maintain the performance of the Resilience Team within a robust performance management framework.

3 13. To maintain responsibility for the team staffing rota to ensure adequate geographical coverage and programme reach. 14. To complete and maintain a community mapping and engagement exercise in collaboration with other programme Team Leaders in order to disseminate Drink Wise, Age Well messaging and interventions as far as possible including places of employment, faith groups, retail centres and sports clubs 15. To support the development of joint working protocols and referral routes with partner and intermediary organisations to ensure a wide community reach. 16. To ensure risk management and related policies are fully understood and complied with by the team including carrying out service user risk assessments and lone working risk assessments 17. To ensure safe practices and lone working systems are operational and effective and report to the Locality Manager where there are concerns. 18. To carry out any incident reporting in line with organisational Health and Safety Policy, and where required report to registration bodies via the Locality Manager. 19. To ensure good working relationships are established and maintained with programme beneficiaries and peers, programme colleagues, partner agencies and Addaction management. 20. To develop your own knowledge and practice, attend supervision and team meetings so as to fulfil your role as an effective Team Leader. 21. Carry out any reasonable and lawful duties and responsibilities as required by the Locality Manager, organisational senior management and Head of Programmes.

4 PERSON SPECIFICATION Job Title: Team Leader Essential Desirable Qualifications and training N/SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or degree in Health Promotion/Community Education Social Care Management Qualification /N/SVQ Level 4 or CSW, RMN, RGN or equivalent Skills and abilities Knowledge and Experience Of Community Engagement, Outreach and Group work Knowledge and experience of the issues affecting people with alcohol problems and/or an ageing population Experience in co-ordinating and supporting volunteering programmes Highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills Ability to lead a team and manage effective relationships with internal staff and external partners Effective written and oral communication skills Effective planning & organisational skills Demonstrable administrative and IT skills with awareness of Windows software Experience/Knowledge Understanding about the concept of resilience, social isolation and working with individuals to support them and stay well Knowledge of the issues related to alcohol use amongst over 50 s Demonstrable experience of working in the health, social care or substance misuse setting Proven track record of responsibility and development of others Experience of working in partnership with a range of statutory and nonstatutory agencies Experience of planning and delivery of community based initiatives Knowledge of health and safety, including assessing high-risk situations Skilled in evidencebased, behaviour change interventions e.g. CBT Experienced in general healthy ageing advice and interventions Ability to co-ordinate and manage data collection systems An understanding of delivering BIG Lottery grant requirements Knowledge of ageing and alcohol in a policy context Knowledge of coproduction models and Community Systems Approach Experience of leading and implementing new initiatives
