Accidental release measures Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up Environmental precautions 7. Handling and storage t applicable. Wear suitable protective equipment. Keep unnecessary personnel away. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. Do not touch damaged containers or spilled material unless wearing appropriate protective clothing. Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak. Keep upwind. Keep out of low areas. Ensure adequate ventilation. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Stop the flow of material, if this is without risk. Small quantities can be dissolved/diluted in water and flushed to drain. Wipe up with absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece). Clean surface thoroughly to remove residual contamination. Never return spills in original containers for re-use. For waste disposal, see section 13 of the MSDS. Avoid discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground. Precautions for safe handling Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities 8. Exposure controls/personal protection Keep container tightly closed. Keep out of the reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Occupational exposure limits exposure limits noted for ingredient(s). Biological limit values Appropriate engineering controls biological exposure limits noted for the ingredient(s). Provide eyewash station. Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment Eye/face protection Skin protection Hand protection Other Respiratory protection Thermal hazards General hygiene considerations Wear eye/face protection. Wear protective gloves. rmal work clothing (long sleeved shirts and long pants) is recommended. personal respiratory protective equipment normally required. Avoid contact with eyes. 4 Symptoms related to the physical, chemical and toxicological characteristics Information on toxicological effects Acute toxicity Skin corrosion/irritation Serious eye damage/eye irritation Respiratory sensitization Skin sensitization Germ cell mutagenicity Carcinogenicity Reproductive toxicity Specific target organ toxicity - single exposure Specific target organ toxicity - repeated exposure Aspiration hazard 12. Ecological information Ecotoxicity May be irritating to the skin. Causes serious eye irritation. This product is not considered to be a carcinogen by IARC, ACGIH, NTP, or OSHA. The perchlorate ion competes with iodide in the mechanism that governs uptake into the thyroid gland for growth hormone production. This effect is routinely countered by ensuring sufficient dietary intake of iodine, as perchlorate does not accumulate in the body. Studies on workers in plants where perchlorates are manufactured have shown no thyroid abnormalities; various clinical studies are ongoing. Perchlorates occur naturally in trace amounts in the environment, and are not classified as carcinogenic. ecotoxicity data noted for the ingredient(s). Persistence and degradability data is available on the degradability of this product. Bioaccumulative potential Mobility in soil Other adverse effects 13. Disposal considerations Disposal instructions Local disposal regulations Hazardous waste code Waste from residues / unused products Contaminated packaging 14. Transport information Dilute waste in large quantities of water and flush into sewer connected to wastewater treatment system in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Dispose of contents/container in accordance with local/regional/national/international regulations. DOT t regulated as a hazardous material by DOT. IATA t regulated as a dangerous good. IMDG t regulated as a dangerous good. Transport in bulk according to Annex II of MARPOL 73/78 and the IBC Code 15. Regulatory information US federal regulations Dispose of in accordance with local regulations. Empty containers or liners may retain some product residues. This material and its container must be disposed of in a safe manner (see: Disposal instructions). Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal. Since emptied containers may retain product residue, follow label warnings even after container is emptied. information available. CERCLA/SARA Hazardous Substances - t applicable.
