1 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: MACHINE SHOP SET-UP PERSON DEPARTMENT: MACHINE SHOP JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Supervised By: Supervises: Machine Shop Leads No One POSITION SUMMARY: Ability to set-up assigned machines in the shop in an adequate amount of time. Monitor and maintain shop processes. Produce quality parts to customer specifications and train operators. Work directly with cell leaders to help coordinate and schedule machine setups efficiently. Work with a team on continued set-up reduction and process improvements. Document shift completed earned set-up hours and number of set-ups. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Responsible for repeat set-ups to include: a. Set-ups on necessary equipment b. Coordinate shift set-ups with cell leaders c. Ensure that set-ups are completed in an adequate amount of time d. Understand processes and update set-up sheets / programs e. Work closely with others to keep constant communication f. Assembly of all fixtures and working knowledge of secondary equipment set-ups g. Perform all quality functions to inspect a product to customer specifications h. Efficiently operate any machine i. Develop set-up reduction techniques j. Work overtime, as required k. Train cell operators on required set-up skills l. Assist operators with problem solving m. Assist in monitoring shop product quality n. Other tasks assigned by leads

2 QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: High school or alternative diploma Two-year technical degree in Machine Tool Technology or three years of CNC and production experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Blueprint reading Math skills CNC programming knowledge Teamwork Flexible hours Continued education, when needed Facility shop procedures Which are the most essential duties and responsibilities of this position and why? Effectively set-up, operate and check products to customer s specifications on all necessary equipment Keep set-up hours and costs to a minimum List the physical requirements of accomplishing the most essential functions; i.e. bending, stooping, lifting, walking, standing, etc. Standing and lifting of small fixtures.
