1 SRO-300 INSTALLATION MANUAL US 33 N. Churubusco, IN Ph. (260) Fax (260)

2 PRE-INSTALLATION Thank you for choosing the Sterling SRO Series commercial reverse osmosis system. This reverse osmosis system includes a cartridge type sediment filter and carbon filter. Additional treatment (iron filter, water softener, etc.) may also be required prior to the reverse osmosis system. Please review the recommended water quality limitations. Water Quality Limitation Hardness <5 gpg Iron (Fe) <0.1 ppm(mg/l) Manganese (Mn) <0.05 ppm(mg/l) Hydrogen Sulfide (H 2 S) None Allowed TDS <2,000 ppm (mg/l) ph 4 11 (optimum at ) Temperature F (4-38 C) Pressure >20 psi Ensure proper electrical power is supplied to the unit. Do not use where the water is microbiologically unsafe. Never allow the pump to run dry. Never start or run the unit with the drain valve fully closed. PERMEATE is referring to product water. CONCENTRATE is referring to drain water. Feed water must be iron-free and less than 5 gpg hardness. This unit is not supplied with a storage tank, but may be used with either an atmospheric (non-pressurized) or pressurized style tank. If an atmospheric storage tank is used a float switch must be used to turn power off to the system INSTALLATION 1. Disconnect tubing and remove end cap from membrane housings. 2. Install membranes in housings. The brine seal around the membrane must be on the inlet side of the housing. Brine Seal Direction of Flow 3. Ensure each membrane is fully seated in membrane housing bottom end caps and reinstall the top cap on membrane housings. 4. Reconnect the feed water tubing to the membrane end cap fittings. 2

3 4. Install the 20 micron sediment filter, 5 micron sediment filter and activated carbon filter in filter housings. INSTALLATION (continued) 5. Connect 3/8 feed water to inlet of cartridge filter housing. 6. Connect ¼ drain tubing to drain port of RO unit. 7. Connect ¼ PERMEATE (product) water tubing from carbon post filter tee fitting to storage tank (not provided) 8. Connect ¼ PERMEATE (product) water tubing from carbon post filter elbow fitting to desired point-of-use. 1. Turn on feed water to RO system. 2. Use the red pressure relief buttons on the top of ALL of the cartridge filter housings to purge air out of the canisters. 3. Apply 110v power to unit. START UP 4. Inlet valve will open and pump will start running. Reverse osmosis unit will Auto Flush a high flow of water to the drain for 60 seconds. The following lights should be illuminated on the control panel: POWER LOW WATER PRODUCING FLUSHING 5. After the flushing cycle, slowly close the PRESSURE REGULATOR adjustment knob (turn clockwise) on the drain line and monitor the concentrate and permeate water flow. 6. Continue adjusting the PRESSURE REGULATOR until the flow of the PERMEATE (product water) line is ½ of the flow of the CONCENTRATE (drain water) line. Note: High TDS water may not allow the 1:2 ratio of product water to drain water listed. 7. Allow the unit to fill the storage tank (not provided). When storage tank is full the pump will stop and the POWER and LOW WATER lights will remain illuminated. 3

5 REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER SYSTEM LIMITED WARRANTY What Does This Warranty Cover? This warranty covers any defects in materials and workmanship of the R.O. Drinking Water System when installed and operated within recommended parameters, with the exceptions stated below. How Long Does The Coverage Last? The manufacturer will warrant its R.O. Drinking Water System, for a period of one year from the date of purchase. All implied warranties including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose are limited to one year from the date of purchase for the R.O. Drinking Water System. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitations may not apply to you. What Will The Manufacturer Do? The manufacturer will repair or replace at its discretion any defective component. You must pay any labor charges. You must also pay for shipping or travel charges to return the defective part(s). What Does This Warranty Not Cover? This warranty does not cover the disposable sediment and carbon filters whose service life depends on feed water conditions. In addition, the membrane is only warranted if the required feed water conditions are met. The above warranty will also not apply to any part of the R.O. Drinking Water System that is damaged because of neglect, misuse, alterations, accident, misapplication, physical damage, or damage caused by fire, acts of God, freezing or hot waters or similar causes. Consequential and incidental damages are not recoverable under this warranty. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. We recommend that you use only the manufacturer's replacement parts since improper parts or incorrectly performed maintenance or repair voids this warranty. How Do You Get Service? In order to be eligible for service under this warranty you must (a) contact your local dealer who supplied the unit. How Does State Law Apply? This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. 5
