3 GENERAL PURPOSE FORMULATION Scope: An unfilled white formulation was developed and tested for physical properties. Results: Data shows that FINE-CLAD M-893 has very good physical properties when properly cured at suggested film thickness of 35-5µ. Tips: 1. The use of Synthron Actiron (tetra butyl ammonium bromide) will allow for faster curing properties. The usage level is dependent upon desired cure schedule. 4 OVERBAKE STUDY Scope: A robust starting formulation for a standard white, unfilled TGIC was developed and tested for yellowing properties against competitive polyester cured with TGIC. Results: With an initial bake schedule of 1 minutes at 4 C, the Delta b value of FINE-CLAD M-893 in overbake schedules at a temperature of 5 C is better than a competitive p olyester resin in white powder coatings. Tips: 1. The use of Dover Dovernox 911 at.5 % will help to achieve excellent film integrity and non-yellowing properties when curing at temperatures between 5 C-5 C.. Replacing Benzoin with Troy Powdermate 54 DG at.5% will help to decrease yellowing during initial bake. 1 Parts Binder Binder 1 Gram 93. 5 SOUTH FLORIDA WEATHERING FORMULATION Scope: A white, unfilled formulation based on FINE-CLAD M-893 was developed and tested in South Florida, using a superdurable TGIC powder as a positive control. Weathering test data is outlined for a selected bake schedule. Results: South Florida weathering data illustrates the excellent gloss retention properties obtained using FINE-CLAD M-893. The superdurable TGIC control had higher gloss retention as expected, although the M-893-based powder still retains approximately 7% of its gloss after years of exposure.
