2 Vacancy Information Pack Job Description Job Title: Location: Reward Package: Post holder is line managed by: Post duration: Policy Advisor Granta Park, Nr Cambridge Competitive, plus benefits Policy Manager Permanent Background and overall purpose of the job: We are expanding our Policy and Public Affairs capabilities as part of our strategic plan for growth over the coming years. This newly-created Policy Officer will report to, and work closely with, the Policy Manager. The role may include work in Westminster and Whitehall and elsewhere in the UK. The position will play a key part in the development of a credible and comprehensive policy base for Alzheimer s Research UK (ARUK) that will help the charity achieve clarity of approach as it works towards defeating dementia, particularly in terms of how people with dementia will access future treatments. The post holder will be joining a friendly, busy and fast-moving Policy and Public Affairs team. The role will work closely with policy colleagues to help develop opportunities for influencing key stakeholders within and outside government and its agencies to help ARUK improve the dementia research environment. This is a very creative directorate, and the post holder will have opportunities to work on projects that take the charity in new directions. The role is likely to include frequent work in Westminster and Whitehall and elsewhere in the UK. Duties & responsibilities: Undertake comprehensive analysis and interpretation of relevant policies to position Alzheimer s Research UK as a thought leader and enable us to effect positive change. To gather necessary data and understanding, working with other ARUK colleagues, to produce accurate, timely and insightful policy materials and briefings. Prepare succinct summary reports identifying areas of industry or business interest highlighting potential implications and proposing relevant action plans. Working with the Policy Manager, to help develop and maintain mechanisms to keep abreast of the policy environment To help develop and roll-out campaign ideas with key audiences that deliver against ARUK policy objectives. Co-ordinate and manage key projects within the policy team, ensuring key audiences are kept up-to-date with developments. Under guidance from the Policy Manager, to attend external working groups and help develop partnerships beneficial to ARUK

To identify, research and develop robust policy positions for the charity in all necessary areas, working with appropriate staff at all levels Contribute to submissions to government departments and their agencies, parliamentary committees, and other UK and international organisations as appropriate. Work with Head of Public Affairs to strengthen existing and build new relationships with political and other stakeholders Undertake analysis of key data to inform our internal and external positioning. Undertake any other relevant duties and projects delegated by the Head of Policy and Impact in line with the responsibilities of the post

We are a non-branched charity at an exciting stage of expansion and development. Our friendly, busy and dynamic office is based in Granta Park, Great Abington, Cambridge. We offer the following benefits 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, pro-rated for new starters, part-time and annualised hour employees. Option to buy up to 5 additional days leave per year, pro-rated for new starters, part-time and annualised hour employees. For every 3, 6 and 9 years worked, employees will receive 1 additional day s leave (loyalty days) which will be added to their annual entitlement, pro-rated for part-time and annualised hour employees. Standard 37.5 hour working week, with a flexible start time of between 7.30am and 9.30am and a corresponding finish between 4pm and 6pm each day. 5% employer contribution of your annual salary into the pension scheme.
