PRODUCTS & APPLICATIONS COURSE WATER TREATMENT PRESENTATION John Waema
INTRODUCTION Filtration Systems Dosing Systems Packaged Plants Reverse Osmosis Systems Waste Water Treatment Plants Mobile Water Treatment Plants
SOURCES OF WATER Borehole water nature of rock around aquifer High mineral content Surface sources bacteria, colour, sediments Shallow well water bacteria, minerals Rainwater-Sediments, bacteria Sea Water High Salinity levels
CROP NUTS LABORATORY
FILTRATION

FILTRATION DAYLIFF CX RANGE
FILTRATION DAYLIFF CXD RANGE Higher pressure range Used for chemical media Automatic valve options -available soon
DAYLIFF FC RANGE Mild Steel Standard & Deep Bed SS on special order Higher pressure Special media Manual control valve FILTRATION
PENTAIR PXD INDUSTRIAL FILTERS Automated operation with Pentair Electric Control. Deep Bed configuration for specialized water treatment media applications. Structural Fiberglass pressure rated at 10 bar. High efficiency internal flow arrangement for even filtration and effective backwash.
Activated Carbon Reduces: color and odor Organic chemicals Birm speeds up reaction between DO and Iron/Manganese. Aqualite removesheavy metals and can filter down to 20mic Activated Alumina Fluoride content by adsorption SPECIAL RESINS
ULTRAFILTRATION
SCHEMATIC LAYOUT
DAYLIFF ULTRAFITRATION
ADVANTAGES OF ULTRAFILTRATION
PENTAIR LINE GUARD Operating Conditions - Max. Inlet Pressure: 4 Bar; Water Temp Range: +10C C; TSS: <0.1mg/l; Turbidity: <0.3 NTU Membrane Area: 4.5m2 Flow Rate: Initial flow rated at 60l/min (3.6m3/hr); Compact unit 2No. modules mounted on a panel with the control unit installed in between. Produces pure water and removes >99.9% of all of bacteria, viruses, cysts as well as sediment and turbidity; No pre-treatment or other chemical processes required
AQUASENTRY MANUAL UF Removes particles, bacteria, cysts etc Uses hollow fibre membrane Based on simple gravity principle Standalone or in parallel connection Low cost, no power, no chemicals 10,000litres per day
APPLICATIONS OF ULTRAFILTRATION Surface Water Treatment Post treatment of Waste Water /Effluent water RO Pretreatment

DOSING SYSTEMS
ELECTRICAL DOSING Seko AMM/AML Standard unit Dosing Range 5-lit/hr Grundfos Alldos Higher Flow Rates Grundfos Quality & Reliability
Ngethu Treatment Works
PROPORTIONAL DOSING Dosatron Range Proportional Dosers Powered Only by Water Pressure Dosing rate proportional to flow rate Sizing by flow rate on line and percentage of the dosage required
KLORMAN INLINE DISINFECTION 500,000lt per cartridge at 1ppm with no chlorine demand
BUCCANEER IN LINE DISINFECTION One charge of 6 refill cartridges will dose 8,000 m3 to 1 ppm free chlorine
KLORMAN & BUCCANEER APPLICATIONS Food processing facilities Shelf life enhancement Potable water disinfection Environmental hygine Pre and post harvest Medical facilities Animal kennels
APPLICATIONS EXAMPLE
PACKAGED PLANTS Dayliff WG and WP plants Complete packaged plants for treatment of water from surface sources Dosers for flocculation and chlorination Sedimentation basin Sand filter Dayliff WG 50 plant
PACKAGED PLANTS Dayliff WP Plant Control panel WP sedimentation tank Dayliff WP 500 plant Dosing pump & tank Dayliff CX 500 filter
REVERSE OSMOSIS
SYSTEM BLOCK DIAGRAM FEED PERMEATE CONCENTRATE
WHY USE PRE-TREATMENT? RO is designed to filter out dissolved solids not suspended solids. Pre-treating the feed water will increase the life and recovery of the membranes. In the long run you will SAVE money if you pre-treat. GOOD PRE-TREATMENT = GOOD RO PERFORMANCE
WHY PRETREAT THE WATER Scaling Precipitation of solutes onto membrane surface Occurs at tail end Heavy metals, H2S, Silica, Hardness etc Fouling Growth of bacteria on membrane surface forming slime layer Occurs throughout membrane COD & BOD Clogging Deposits of silt in membrane Throughout membrane but most common at front. Metal Oxides, TSS (colloids, clays, silts, etc.) Membrane Degradation Chlorine damages RO membranes

WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANTS D&S Reaching the Next Level
BIOLIFF WATER TECH: BIOROCK WWTP BIOROCK is a revolutionary compact WWTP system. No need for power. No moving parts. Silent operation. Minimal maintenance. Ease of handling and installation Suitable for domestic applications D&S Reaching the Next Level
SBR WWTP Bioliff SBR wastewater treatment plants use the Sequential Batch Reactor process. SBR process provides for full Carbon and Nitrogen removal - produces high quality effluent. SBR Process: a) Primary Treatment b) Secondary Treatment - Aeration, Biodegradrading and Settlement and Storage; D&S Reaching the Next Level
BENEFITS Highly Stable Fixed Film Technology Incredibly Versatile but also Simple Excellent process control Robust Process Survives difficult conditions e.g. power cuts, flooding, toxic shock, poor design Low sludge wasting frequencies Quick delivery times (under 1 month possible) Modular configuration allowing for scaling up Customizable design Enpura Process: a) Primary Treatment b) Buffer Tank c) Aeration Reactor d) Clarifier Tank e) Storage Tank c) ENPURA WWTP D&S Reaching the Next Level
