There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK. Almost two thirds have a disability and one third rely on others for help, making stroke one of the biggest causes of disability. We are continually working to improve the lives of stroke survivors and their families who deserve the very best treatment and care. We deliver amazing, life-changing support to over 60,000 stroke survivors and their families each year. We also fund research to find better treatments, campaign for better stroke care and help people understand how to spot and prevent stroke. 2 Directorate The Marketing and External Affairs Directorate plays a vital role in delivering our strategy. We provide strategic leadership for engagement and stewardship of key audiences through an integrated, results orientated approach. Working alongside Fundraising, Research and Information and Services we deliver leadership and expertise in marketing, public affairs, PR, event management, communication, creative services and digital, to deliver the charity s vision. Join us and help to achieve a world free of stroke. Purpose of role Every Stroke Association role is designed to contribute towards achieving our strategic ambitions. The particular focus of this role is to help us to achieve Ambition 6: Building the foundations for long-term growth. The Video Editor/Graphic Designer role will provide a professional multimedia production service for our charity, with joint responsibility for post-production activities. They will work with colleagues across the organisation, and with people affected by stroke, to create good quality and engaging multimedia assets and develop and manage a library of digital assets. They will support the professional in-house graphic design service, ensuring that our brand and corporate house style guidelines are applied consistently across all our publications and other collateral. Working as part of our busy Digital and Content Team, the job holder will provide internal clients with advice on design and house style, and take responsibility for design elements of projects from initial concept to final delivery. They will be required to travel occasionally for meetings and briefing sessions at our headquarters office in London, where the rest of the Digital and Content Team is based.

3 Key responsibilities of role Responsibility areas Performance Indicators Key Competencies Edit video, audio, still photography and related media Ensure that all multimedia materials are produced to a high professional standard and comply with our visual brand identity and messaging framework, checking with the Head of Brand as necessary Provide a professional graphic design service, by undertaking a range of graphic design projects for clients from across the organisation. Edit and repurpose digital assets for different messaging and project aims (eg editing and combining clips from separate shoots and adding commentary, subtitles, soundtracks etc Offline and online editing skills Transfer and make copies of videos to web, including uploading videos to our YouTube page as required Secure appropriate licensing rights for the use of music or other intellectual property used in multimedia materials produced for our charity Multimedia materials checked by Head of Brand before being released Liaise effectively with colleagues in Marketing and External Affairs, and other internal clients, to ensure delivery of design projects to agreed deadlines Amend existing artwork files Business Acumen Continuous improvement and innovation Continuous improvement and innovation Collaboration Business acumen Customer focus Collaboration Continuous improvement and innovation,

4 to take into account new information or revisions Use own creative experience and skills to advise on design direction Ability to juggle multiple projects Draft print specifications to obtain print costs and arrange print jobs Liaise with Procurement to source quotes from appropriate suppliers as required Use knowledge of print specifications and turnaround times to advise clients on formats and inform clients of delivery deadlines Support the checking of items that have been produced for quality control purposes. 5 Upload artwork, videos, images etc to Media Library. Support the Senior Graphic Designer and Multimedia Producer with uploading key artwork and brand assets onto the Media Library. Support the development and management of our picture and video library; carry out video and picture research for individual projects. Keep an accurate and up to date record of multimedia assets, ensuring that all assets are systematically catalogued and archived in the digital assets library Support staff with the application of the Association s branding guidelines and act as a gatekeeper for use of our brand Monitor the use of our brand and take a proactive approach to ensuring that inappropriately branding materials are amended as required. Flag any such issues with the Creative Services Manager. Follow the branding process when creating artwork. 7 Person specification Education Educated to degree level, preferably in Design, Film Production, New Media, Audio-Video or relevant demonstrable industry experience Willingness to undertake training and continuing professional development / Desirable Experience Experience of designing a variety of materials from initial concept to final printer ready artwork Experience of liaising with clients to develop design briefs and schedules Good knowledge of print and finishing processes and experience of liaising with printers and other contractors Experience of creating artwork that meets the requirements of the agreed creative brief and adheres to corporate brand guidelines Ability to juggle multiple projects adhering to agreed delivery timeframes Experience of editing videos Experience of designing online materials/graphic elements Desirable Skills and abilities Ability to use a range of IT products A good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Premier Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc.) Excellent editing skills, preferably using Final Cut Pro and/or Adobe Premier Pro
