They are powered by heat and utilise water as an environmentally safe refrigerant. Not so when using an InvenSor chiller! Drawing on waste heat that would otherwise be left unused, our machines generate cooling that is directly usable. 4 WORLD CHAMPION A single gram of adsorption material has an inner surface the size of a football field. This is the driving force in InvenSor s compact chillers. THE INVENSOR ADSORPTION TECHNOLOGY ZEOLITE COAT ON AN ADSORBER THE EVAPORATION SURFACE on a clay jug is sufficient to keep several litres of water cool for a number of hours. Just imagine the amount of cooling you can generate using the surface area available on several football fields. This enormous cooling capacity is exactly what is at the heart of every InvenSor chiller: a gigantic surface in a miniscule space. SMALL DEVICE, TREMENDOUS IMPACT The piece of an adsorber shown in the picture belongs to the heart that drives the InvenSor adsorption chiller. The sorption process provides high power and efficiency of refrigeration in the evaporation chamber by extracting water vapor. LARGE CAPACITY, LOW DRIVING TEMPERATURE The two adsorbers built into the InvenSor chiller are operated alternately in adsorption mode (vapor extraction) and desorption mode (regeneration with heat). Varying with the type of machine, temperatures as low as 60 C (140 F) are sufficient to achieve excellent capacity and efficiency. THE PARIS WORLD FAIR IN 1878 was the first event that introduced the world to a sorption machine using solar power to produce a block of ice. Since then, ABSORPTION machines have been commonplace for many years. InvenSor s ADSORPTION technology is now raising the bar in terms of capacity density and ease of use. ADSORPTION MATERIAL THROUGH AN ELECTRON MICROSCOPE Zeolites are characterised by their regular arrangement of cavities and channels. Depending on their size, the pores are referred to as micro or meso pores. These materials offer an exceptionally large interior surface boasting, in some cases, more than 1,000 square metres per gram. The greater the surface, the more powerful the sorption process.

Across the globe, we experience a steady increase in energy cost. Combined heat and power stations (CHP) provide for greater independence of rising electricity rates and for a more efficient utilisation of energy. The more hours your CHP is in use, the more power and, at the same time, the more heat it generates for you. However, what to do when you don t need the heat that is being produced? What if you need electricity for cooling, but your CHP is operating at reduced capacity? It would certainly be ideal if you could use the heat to generate cooling energy and, thereby, produce and save electricity at the same time. TRIGENERATION A chiller made by InvenSor allows you to generate cold water and use the heat produced by your CHP unit as operating power. This represents the ultimate additional benefit any combined heat and power station can yield. When outside temperatures are low, an InvenSor chiller can even supply direct cooling via the exterior re-cooling unit (free cooling function). In this case you can use the heat produced by the combined heat and power station for heating. Triple use of primary energy. This is as good as it gets. EXAMPLE: MITSUBISHI HIRATSUKA PLANT JAPAN To make efficient use of exhaust heat from a CHP unit, three InvenSor chillers (30 kw) have been installed. The machines replace a 37 kw absorption chiller delivering cold water for air conditioning.
